Happy National Cat Day from Bees Ferry! 🐱💙

As some of you may know, we have three very special clinic cats who call Bees Ferry home: Cheech, Chong, and Leroy! 😻

Cheech and Chong were surrendered to us due to uncontrolled skin conditions. With the care and treatment they needed, their skin conditions are now under control, and they’re doing great! ❤️ Leroy came to us as a stray, and we welcomed him with open arms. He’s thriving, too!

These three boys have become the Three Musketeers of Bees Ferry! 🐾 Where you find one, you’ll likely find the other two. They’re practically inseparable and have formed the sweetest little crew. From their rough beginnings to their happy lives at the clinic, these boys have found not only their forever home but also their best friends in each other. 🏡🐈

We couldn’t imagine Bees Ferry without our favorite feline trio! Help us celebrate National Cat Day by showing Cheech, Chong, and Leroy some love. ❤️

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Jennah Rains! 🩺

Meet Dr. Jennah Rains! We’re so excited to spotlight her and share a little more about the heart behind the care she provides. Now in her fourth year of veterinary medicine, Dr. Rains studied at Ross University, then NC state bringing her passion for animals into everything she does.

❤️ Her favorite patients? Senior pets! There’s something extra special about caring for our seasoned companions and helping them enjoy their golden years comfortably. Her reason for pursuing veterinary medicine is rooted in the opportunity to understand and help animals when they can’t speak for themselves. 🐶🐱

A fun fact about Dr. Rains: She has a soft spot for scruffy dogs — bonus points if they have a gray muzzle! And pictured here with her are her own three pups: Kramer, Boogie, and Disco.

When she’s not at work, you can find her curled up with a good book, out boating, gardening or enjoying live music with her husband, Gray. 🎶

PET OF THE MONTH: EMMETT!

Meet Emmett, our 11-month-old Boston Terrier with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart! ❤️

In less than a year of life, this little troublemaker has already managed to break TWO nails and let his curiosity get the best of him by eating a mushroom! 🍄 Needless to say, Emmett likes to keep us on our toes!

But we don't think there's a single employee at Bees Ferry Veterinary Hospital who's ever upset to see his name on the schedule!

Emmett is an absolute ray of sunshine every time he walks through our doors. ☀️ He's never met a stranger, is the BEST boy for all his diagnostics and procedures, and is always willing to put on a silly hat for a photo op!

We absolutely adore this goofy little guy and his larger-than-life personality! While we LOVE seeing him, we're hoping his next few visits involve fewer injuries and questionable snacks! 😂

Ending Vet Tech Week with a little humor! 😂

If you work in veterinary medicine, you know there are certain phrases we probably say 100 times a day! From asking for an extra set of hands to requesting lab work, our days are full of familiar phrases that have practically become our second language. So, we wanted to share a few of our favorites with you!

While these phrases may bring a few laughs, they also highlight something incredibly important in veterinary medicine: communication! 💬 Whether we're asking for help restraining a patient, requesting that someone start our lab work, or making sure everyone is on the same page, effective communication plays a HUGE role in providing excellent patient care and maintaining a harmonious work environment.

Vet med is a team effort, and it takes all of us communicating, collaborating, and supporting one another to keep things running smoothly (even on the craziest of days! 😉).

So, to wrap up Vet Tech Week, enjoy a little humor from the everyday life of veterinary medicine. And to all the veterinary technicians and support staff out there — thank you for everything you do, the words you repeat, the hands you lend, and the care you give every single day. 💚🐾

In the middle of the busy days, the long shifts, and the challenges we face, it’s important to remember to celebrate the small victories, the laughter we share with each other, and the moments that remind us why we do what we do. 🐶🐱

Every small step forward is a milestone. Every little win matters. Every moment of laughter helps lighten the hard days, and every bit of kindness we show one another makes a difference.

So this Vet Tech Week, let’s remember to celebrate ourselves and each other. Give yourself grace, be proud of how far you’ve come, and remember that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. ❤️

Vet Tech Week: Yes, Sometimes We Really Are Just Snuggling Pets!

Okay, okay… sometimes we really are just snuggling puppies and kittens! 🥹❤️ But those cuddles are about so much more than getting our daily dose of cuteness.

Making our patients feel safe, comfortable, and loved is an important part of veterinary medicine. We strive to make every interaction as positive and fear-free as possible, whether that means offering treats, giving gentle reassurance, allowing extra time, or simply holding a nervous pet close when they need comfort. 🫶

Building trust with our patients helps strengthen the human-animal bond and creates a better experience for everyone involved. Sometimes, the best thing we can do for a patient isn't a procedure or a treatment; it's showing them that they're safe with us. 🐾

So yes, we love the puppy cuddles and kitten snuggles, but we're also working hard to make sure every patient feels respected, supported, and cared for in those moments.

Vet Tech Week: Celebrating the Work Behind the Scenes! 💙

When people think of veterinary medicine, they often picture us snuggling adorable puppies and kittens all day. And while those moments are definitely a perk of the job, there is SO much more to what we do behind the scenes!

From running diagnostics and examining samples under the microscope to drawing blood, administering treatments, and setting up fluids, veterinary technicians and assistants are constantly working to provide the best possible care for our patients. 🐶🐱

We spend countless hours consulting with doctors, monitoring patients, performing callbacks, communicating with clients, answering questions, filling medications and making sure every patient receives the attention they need. And let's not forget one of the biggest behind-the-scenes tasks of all: CLEANING! 🧹 Disinfecting exam rooms, cleaning kennels, washing instruments, and keeping our hospital safe and sanitary are all essential parts of the job.

There is so much that happens outside of what clients see during their visit. It takes teamwork, skill, compassion, patience, and a whole lot of hard work to keep a veterinary hospital running smoothly.

So this Vet Tech Week, let's celebrate not only the cuddles and cute moments, but also the diagnostics, treatments, late nights, constant cleaning, client communication, teamwork, and all the little things that make a BIG difference in the lives of our patients.

Behind every healthy pet, successful surgery, and comforting moment at the veterinary hospital is a team of dedicated veterinary professionals—and our veterinary technicians are at the heart of it all! 🩺🐶🐱

Veterinary technicians do so much more than most people realize. From monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery to performing laboratory tests, taking radiographs, administering treatments, and providing critical nursing care, they play an essential role in nearly every aspect of veterinary medicine.

But their job goes far beyond medical skills. They're the ones comforting nervous patients, advocating for animals who can't speak for themselves, educating pet owners, and providing compassion during some of the most difficult moments in a pet's life. ❤️

🩺🐾 Surgery Spotlight: Noodle! 🐶💙

Meet Noodle, our brave patient who came to us experiencing vomiting and lethargy due to foreign material in their digestive tract.

Cases like Noodle’s highlight the importance of thorough diagnostics, including radiographs (X-rays) and blood work, to help us identify the underlying problem and determine the best course of treatment. Noodle’s radiographs confirmed a gastrointestinal obstruction, meaning surgery was necessary to safely remove the foreign material.

Dr. Morgan stepped in to perform an exploratory surgery and discovered TWO additional pieces of foreign material!

At Bees Ferry Veterinary, your pet’s safety is always our top priority. We have a dedicated team of highly trained employees monitoring patients throughout the entire surgical procedure, helping ensure the highest level of care every step of the way. ❤️

We are SO happy that Noodle is feeling so much better! 🥰🐾
