The PAWS Humane Society (Floyd County Humane Society) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that works closely with the Charles City Police Department. We strive to encourage humane care and treatment for the animals we shelter and see that their interests and well-being are humanely protected by an aware and caring society. All the animals in our shelter are stray with a story we may never know. Some

of them unwanted and have been abandoned, while still perfect in all the important ways. Many have been cast aside by their owners. Some owners didn’t have enough time. Some dogs were surrendered because they barked too much, others because they didn’t bark enough. We don’t always know the reason why these animals are brought to us and never claimed, but we’re here to show them that they’re worth saving. The one thing all these animals have in common is that each is hoping for you to bring them home and give them a loving new family. We hope you will help us help them.

Meet Cyndi, Jagger, and Bowie! They were today’s Pet of the Week Feature at KCHA this morning, sponsored by ! 😃

These 3 were a little shy at first but very quickly opened up and started zooming all over the studio! We think they are around 5 months old and would love to find their forever homes, maybe even together? 😻

Please consider opening your home and your heart to a shelter pet! They are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and started on flea prevention! 💜

Sweet new dog came in tonight found on Blunt and N Johnson Street. He’s an intact male with an orange collar but is not microchipped.

We are so happy to say that the last of the “Christmas Puppies” was adopted by his foster mom! 🥹❤️💚

Garland came to Paws with his 5 other siblings around Christmas 2024. We assumed they were dumped in town, starving and eating whatever they could. Two of the dogs, Garland and Jolly have had severe anxiety to work through and will often times eat things they aren’t supposed to 😮‍💨😅🥺

We are so incredibly thankful to the people who gave these dogs a forever home where they will never have to scrounge for food again. Special thanks to the adopters who are working through their quirks and not giving up on them 💜

Liberty’s Stars and Stripes had a big day! 😍 They started getting some canned and dry food in their puppy milk buffet, were dewormed, nails trimmed, weighed, and pictures taken! 🐾

The pups will soon be 5 weeks old, it goes so fast! 🥹🥹 We are currently accepting applications, once your application is approved, you can meet the puppies. For now, you’ll only be able to see them by pictures, it’s just for their safety 💜

Karen’s How I Met Your Mother babies are thriving in their foster home!!! We are so thankful for people who foster animals 🐾❤️

Their little stripes are coming out and ears and eyes are almost fully open! Hard to believe this litter is already 2.5 weeks old, growing like weeds!

Please consider adding a black kitten or cat to your home, often times they are overlooked and last to be adopted 🥺
