Tucker learned to calm his puppy mind at our last session and it was glorious! We are going to give him the skill to shut his brain off everyday to help build a calmer dog overall. He did super! Keep up the great work, McNab family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Watching a client and their dog truly connect on a walk out in the wild, never gets old πŸ₯° Reyna liked to pull, react and was generally disconnected on walks.

Giving these girls the tools to enjoy a working walk, allows them to be a team and connect on their adventures. This opens them up to do many opportunities! Keep up the great work, Lisa πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Greta Von Teefs.
She's a young Boston Terrier/Bulldog mix who I had the opportunity to meet through our friends at Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue. She and her foster Dad came by to work on some leash skills so that we could guide her through scary situations and help her to manage her excitement when the doorbell rings. She is a super sweet pup, but it's clear no humans have ever really helped her or given her any kind of positive attention, so understandably, she takes a while to warm up and trust. Her foster Dad is great at balancing meeting her where she is, but helping her to grow. Word on the street is he is considering adopting her πŸ˜‰πŸ₯° I wish all the dogs could be so lucky! Keep up the great work, Gary! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

New walk vibes with Lucy! 😍 We added the 'working' walk, manners to stay safe at open doorways and 180s to our resume at our last session. Once this girl was able to 'hear' her Mom, she absolutely nailed her walk. Her strut was pretty adorable, being so proud of herself πŸ˜‰ Anxiety free walks for those on both ends of the leash! Keep up the great work, Barb πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Dierks came by for a little refresher course on some leadership exercises and the place command. He's been growing like a w**d and testing some boundaries lately so stopping by for a little tune up was exactly what he needed to get back on track! His family have trained several dogs with us over the years so he's in the best of hands! Keep up the great work, Griggs crew ❀️

Another pack walk in the books! This month, we had a small but amazing group of pups in attendance, learning to be calm and collected when around other dogs and people. These monthly walks are free for clients to join and a super opportunity to practice being social, leash handling skills, to work on reactivity and create a stronger connection with your pup! In addition, we also donate to a rescue who needs us...this month, we decided to 'Paw it forward' for the animals that need us at Pets In Crisis. A special thanks to, Loki, Finn, Saki, Blaze and Shorty for donating $65 to help others. We truly have the best clients!

Next month, we will be pack walking on Saturday, April 19, at 8am...which is an hour EARLIER than normal to beat the heat. Stay tuned for more details.

Happy Saturday friends πŸ₯°

Meet Reyna and her expert level head tilt. πŸ˜‰
She's an 8 month old Pittie mix who was recently adopted and who has been through a training program and is an avid daycare goer. She's a total sweetheart, but she's still having trouble managing her excitement around people and dogs in her hood when she's on leash. She also tends to listen when she feels like it πŸ˜‰

First order of business, was to give her and Mom a way to communicate clearly and for Mom to guide her in scenarios she's unsure of what to do. We worked on puppy pushups and lots of leadership and engagement exercises to get these girls on the same page. If Reyna can't listen to Mom inside their house, we don't have much hope for her listening in the wild, once we have added all kinds of sights, smells and sounds. So we work in a mentally quiet space to dial things in between them so they can then have a foundation to take into the world! Lots of sets, reps and accountability are on tap for these girls! Keep up the great work Lisa πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Little Miss Penelope learned all about her basic life skills at our last session. She tends to listen when she feels like it (same, girl πŸ˜‰), but we need her listening to her people for guidance on the regular to help her when she's being impulsive.

We got the whole family on board, speak in the the same language working on puppy pushups and loads of leadership exercises and engagement with her people. She did great and is going home to make training part of her everyday life πŸ˜‰ Keep up the great work, Ally and Chris πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Rue and Nova learned the art of doing nothing aka the place command at our last session and they were AWESOME! When we have lots of big feelings and little to no patience or impulse control to manage that, we get arguments between these two sisters. Giving them both the tool to learn to calm their minds, gives them the ability to build a longer fuse and be less impulsive. Giving the girls time to place daily allows them a reset and some peace in their busy minds (along with the house). Word on the street is place has been a game changer at their house and I couldn't be more proud of this family for doing all the hard work! Keep up the great work, Chapman crew πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Bella.
She's a baby Cane Corso owned by an old friend of mine and I got to meet her and give her Dad some puppy pushup homework and leadership exercises to help get her started off on the right paw. We also gave Dad some pointers on getting Honey (the resident pup who isn't quite sure why this puppy isn't leaving) and Bella on their way to a successful friendship. Slow and steady, lots of advocacy and consistency wins the race! These girls are in the best of hands. Keep up the great work, Brandon!

New walk vibes with Finn! This dude has challenges with his big feelings on walks especially when seeing dogs or people. We worked hard on manners at the doorway and introduced him to the working walk at our last session. Having him think about being with his Mom and allowing her to lead, takes the pressure to 'handle' all of the distractions off of Finn and places it on his human. This allows him to relax and allows for BOTH ends of the leash to enjoy their walk! Keep up the great work, Carlton family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Rosie.
She's a sugary sweet, 5 year old Goldendoodle who doesn't get much cardio on account of her being a wild woman on the leash. She pulls like a freight train and has trouble managing her excitement out on the world and at home when guests arrive.

Our first session was all about changing the communication between Rosie and her family. We worked on conversational leash work, with all of them to begin speaking the and language, with puppy pushups, loads of impulse control exercises and engagement. This girl did SO great! Like so many pups with a busy mind, giving them a job of listening and working on skills is their favorite! Keep up the great work, Saunders family πŸ‘πŸ»

Nala had a big session! She learned all about manners at the doorway to prevent bolting out and setting the tone for a calmer walk. She was introduced to the working walk, to get connected with her humans, to stop pulling and zagging and to create a team vibe that works both get body and mind simultaneously. She did so well, we began to dig into her excitement and reactivity by having her walk with a friend...she crushed it and Short Dog is smitten 😍

Word on the street is Nala is doing great in her own hood and we are working on banking positive experiences with other dogs on leash... Soon calm and collected will be her normal! Keep up the great work, Lynch family 🫢🏻

This was big! Rue and Nova can be reactive and pully on leash. With Mom expecting, this is unsafe behavior, not to mention anxiety producing for everyone!

Sooooo, the girls learned first about impulse control and manners at the doorway so that we can set the tone for a calm walk. We then worked them individually, tweaking their walks to include connection, no pulling, no chaos, auto sitting when their parents stopped (to prep them for walking with a baby stroller) and to look to their people for guidance when other dogs were present versus losing their minds. Once the pups were dialed in with that, we added Shorty the wild child to the mix. ☺️

We walked him with Nova, then with Rue, then upped the ante to both sisters with him....and they understood the assignment πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Flawless! This alone makes for a host of opportunities for these pups in the world when they have good leash manners and aren't reactive. Not to mention, if we can walk them daily and they are getting something out of it both physically and mentally, they are living in a calmer state of and not losing their patience with one another (and having scuffles). In pack fighting is a process and there is a method to the madness...i am so grateful to humans who give a s**t enough to right their ship and do hard things to bring balance back into the home. Keep up the outstanding work, Chapman family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Lucy.
She's a 1.5 year old Chiweenie who is super sweet, but who is having trouble with managing her excitement around her 4 kitty siblings and needs help with her basic obedience and leash skills.

At our first session, we worked on getting Lucy to hear her Mom's guidance via conversational leash work using a slip lead. Lucy learned puppy pushups and implemented lots of engagement and impulse control exercises into her life skill drills. She and Mom did awesome! We are going to head home to do homework and will add another skill to their playes next week! Keep up the great work, Barb πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

New week, new walk for Tucker! If you remember, this guy hasn't been getting the walks he should on account of his pulling and chaotic, overexcited antics πŸ˜‰.

At our last session, we focused on giving him new rules at open doorways to set the tone for a calm walk from the jump. We also introduce ld him to the working walk, which involves keeping all of his owners shoulders in their sockets πŸ˜‰ Tucker did super and this opens up a whole new world for him and his family! Keep up the great work McNab crew πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Hazel.
She's a 3 year old Pittie/Corso mix who is a nervous Nelly. She lives with loads of anxiety, nerves and in a state of flight or freeze when in new situations or around new people. Sometimes those nerves get the best of her and she has undesirable fear responses.

Hazel is 100% my type of girl! These fearful pups are not an easy fix, nor do they make giant progress fast, but man are they awesome to watch become a dog 😍 Hazel is lucky to have a family who understands her, who advocates for her and who wants her to live in a better headspace.

At our first session, we taught her all about calm on command. This girl is always following humans around, never mentally still and on edge waiting for all kinds of what she deems 'scary' to happen. What a s**t place to live...can you imagine?! The place command allows Hazel to be present in the moment and to have rational thoughts versus acting impulsively. It allows her some much overdue calm in her mind, despite what's going on in her environment. Hazel was an absolute rockstar learning about calm and is headed home to find some chill. Keep up the great work, Clore family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
