Our adoption application and requirements can be found at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt. We are a no kill animal rescue facility serving Marion County, IL. We require that potential adopters have their current/past pets taken to the vet yearly for vaccinations, and that dogs are on heartworm prevention 12 months out of the year. First time pet owners must agree to keeping the animals on h

eartworm prevention and getting yearly vaccinations. We are a small shelter run by a very small amount of people. Please be patient with us. Please also understand that there is only one of each animal and unfortunately only one home can be chosen. We choose homes that best suit each individual animal, not on a first-come-first-serve basis.

He is a 1 year old Husky/Jack Russel Mix. He is a sweet boy who loves to run around and play! Bishop gets along well with other dogs - he loves to play with one of our other current dogs, Anastasia! Meet Alfie!

He is a 5 year old male DSH - and is one of our longer term feline residents. He is a little shy, but loves to be petted and rubbed! This guy gets along well with other cats, and may be a little shy with dogs. He would do best in a quiet home, with little foot traffic. He needs an owner with patience, allowing him to warm up on his own terms.

Meet Willow!

She is a 2-3 year old Pomsky. This sweet girl is loyal, and loves her people! She is a little timid around new people. She is definitely a woman's dog, but she does okay with men as well! We were notified by her previous owner that she does not like cats, or chickens. She would prefer a home without these!

Willow listens well, loves to go for walks, and is all about making her humans happy!

Meet Beans!

He is a 14 year old Chihuahua mix. He currently weighs about 23 lbs. Beans was adopted from our shelter as a puppy, and returned 14 years later due to no fault of his own.

He is a very easy houseguest - he enjoys sleeping most of the day, and helping food prep (his own food of course!). Beans gets along well with other dogs, and cats. He is looking for a soft place to land for the rest of his days!

Lucy is still with us! 😔

She is a 6 going on 7 year old female Australian Cattle Dog Mix. (She is NOT a Rott! We had her entire litter of siblings when they were all pups 😊)

Lucy is such a sweet girl, who has been returned to the shelter 3 times now. She needs to be an only animal in a home with no small children, making it hard to find her a home. She has her own set of quirks, like any other dog! Please message us with any questions, we are very transparent about our animals and their personalities/needs.

We know there is someone out there that is willing to give her a chance at forever! She deserves better than a shelter kennel.

Meet Miley!

She is a 3-4 year old female DSH. Miley was brought in a couple years ago with her two kittens, who have since been adopted. She is a little slow to warm up, but is a quiet and sweet girl.

Her favorite activities include watching out the window, and perching at high points on cat trees.

Meet Puck! He is a 4-5 year old Lab. Puck was chained up in a yard with a 4 foot chain, unable to access food and water. He was emaciated, with his ribs showing and his spirit fading. The 2 other dogs owned by his previous owner(s) were allowed to free roam, and were fat and healthy.

Puck is a little slow to warm up, but is just a good ole boy! He is goofy, playful, and loves attention once he breaks through that wall! He does well with other animals. He is known for hopping over fences, so an invisible fence in the home would work well to keep Puck at home.
