Good morning All. Today is (sadly) our last day of daycare at The Barking Lot, and I know the reason we bought the business to begin with is when it originally closed, I had nowhere to take my dog. For those of you now in the same position, I have already hired Kara Cares to do drop-ins and dog walking- she’s done a FANTASTIC job and all of my pets looooooove her. Beck that works for us is also available on Rover for services.

We were hoping they’d have homes for Valentines Day or New Years Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc but maybe Easter will be the holiday that they find loving homes. Shimmer will be celebrating 1 year of living at The Barking Lot this month, and Cole will have been here for a year next month. We love them and want them to find the happiest forever homes. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the upcoming closure of The Barking Lot at the end of April.

While we have been fortunate to receive steady business in daycare/boarding/grooming from our customers, we are unable to continue operating without the success of the bar side of our business. Unfortunately, we only own the businesses and not the building. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close.

For those who may be interested, the bar space is available for sublease and could be well suited for a variety of uses, including a bar, veterinary office, retail space, or something else. Please reach out to any of us if you’re interested.

Our final service dates:

Daycare- April 17th

Grooming: April 15th

Boarding: April 30

This past year has meant more to us than words can fully express. Not only did our family have the gift of spending a full year together, but we also made so many friends. We are especially proud to have helped 43 dogs and 4 cats find loving homes.

Edit- it was much easier to type this while only thinking about the power bill and rent. It is overwhelming how much we will miss your dogs. 💔Thank you for letting us get to know them, play, and have so many laughs and good times with them.

If circumstances change, we will announce if from the rooftop (maybe literally), but for now we wanted to give our customers and staff as much notice as possible.

Happy Monday from Cole and Shimmer. They are available for adoption here. They’re spayed/neutered and microchipped. They’ve lived here for almost a whole year! They are both such good dogs and would make excellent pets! They’re both good on a leash and have fantastic bathroom manners. Yayyyy- Q-Tip has been adopted!! Now we just have Monkey (cat), Shimmer and Cole. Shimmer and Cole have been with us for almost a YEAR! They’re happy and comfortable but they deserve their own homes and are the best dogs! They have been neutered/spayed and are microchipped

Although we are named The Barking Lot, we currently have two little kittens available for adoption! They have no adoption fee! The mostly white one is named Q-Tip and he is fully deaf but a very sweet boy. The others name is Monkey and he is such a playful, sweet, little guy who needs his forever home ASAP! Please reach out to us if you’d like to adopt either of them!!

These super-pups have officially saved the day!🐾🦸‍♂️They CRUSHED the obstacle course (literally😆), saved the stuffed dog in trouble (okay maybe they did more harm than good by biting them, but that’s neither here nor there🐶❤️), had their capes flapping in the wind as they trained their super speed🏃💨, had lots to say during their press conference 🎤,and had lots of good snacks🍖 to keep their crime fighting heroics in tip top shape! Thank you to all our Heroes who showed up to save the day!!

Exciting news!!!! Guess who’s back……..AYLA. Ayla will be re-joining the team starting today (3/6/26). Please call or visit Pawpartner to schedule a grooming appointment, and if you’re one of her current clients-you won’t have to drive to Mt Vernon anymore- yay😁
