Filing paperwork
Bathing and drying all assigned dogs
Grooming all assigned dogs
Cleaning salon and kennels when needed

CEDAR RAPIDS WILL BE WITHOUT EMERGENCY VETERINARY CARE FOR MANY DAYS IN MAY.
Blue Pearl Cedar Rapids has long been the main Emergency Veterinary Service in this area. This Blue Pearl, formerly known as Eastern Iowa Vet Specialty Center has been the 24/7 emergency provider for sick and injured pets for many years and the hospital serves a huge segment of Eastern Iowa.
Blue Pearl Cedar Rapids will be closed during the following dates:
May 5th
May 11th
May 19th
May 21st
May 22nd
May 25th.
THERE WILL BE NO ER SERVICE. There will be no pet’s hospitalized on those days and animals will need to be transferred out.
THE SPECIALTY SERVICES OF DR. OBR IN INTERNAL MEDICINE AND DR. GRAHAM IN DERMATOLOGY WILL REMAIN OPEN M-F.
THE HOSPITAL WILL HAVE NO SURGERY SERVICE BEGINNING ON OR BEFORE MAY 15th FOR TWO MONTHS. Call Blue Pearl for more information.
Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids works with clinics and hospitals all over Iowa and the Midwest. Our area and throughout the nation is experiencing a shortage of vets that is not expected to improve. There are thousands of pet parents who depend on this hospital and we want you to make a secondary plan in case of emergency.
We suggest talking to your family vet about this looming crisis. Here are the only remaining 24/7 Emergency Clinics in Iowa. Blue Pearl Des Moines remains open and staffed. Their number is 515-727-4872. It is doubtful that they can handle all patients needing to come from the Cedar Rapids and surrounding area, however.
Iowa Veterinary Specialists in Des Moines is open and staffed. 515-280-3100.
Lloyds Veterinary Medical Center at Iowa State in Ames can also be called though they limit their emergency intakes based on staffing. 515-294-4900.
The sad reality is we do not expect this to improve in the future. This important information needs to be shared as it affects all who have pets at home. We are very concerned for the vets, technicians and staff at Blue Pearl Cedar Rapids as well as the pets that will be affected.

Hey all you cool cats & kittens, 😂 We are slowly reopening back up at our new location! 3800 Wilson Ave SW. We will be reaching out to everyone we have on our waiting listing. This is the ones that had to reschedule, called and left a voicemail or sent an email. Opening back up is going to be a little different to keep everything sanitized. When you come inside there is a long hallway (sorry the floor is dirty) we have a kennel in front of our door and ask that you put your fur babies in there. Once you leave we will sanitize everything and get them out and in the bath. If you need help bringing them in just send us a message or call and we will come out and get them. We ask that if someone is picking up or dropping off you wait for them to exit the building before coming in. Please remove leashes and collars upon arrival. We will have a designated clean leash for each dog. For payment we will be using invoices through email or pay over the phone. Lastly I will say it again, if you or someone in your house does not feel good please call and reschedule. We are so excited to show everyone the new salon! We still have a few things left to do and some decorating but for now I wanted to add a quick video so you guys get the idea of it! I look forward to see everyone!!
