The purpose of BHSA is to promote and improve the area's Hunter and Jumper shows and provide a vehicle for members to participate in a year-end awards program. The BHSA has established basic rules and standards by which all member shows must conduct themselves, thereby providing uniformity from show to show for those classes and divisions for which it offers year-end awards. Our goal is to foster
harmonious relations between shows and exhibitors and encourage consistency in unrecognized (non USEF) Hunter and Jumper competitions. The BHSA also provides educational events to its members covering show ring standards and etiquette, judging standards and rules, responsibilities of exhibitors and their agents, trainers, coaches including integrity, sportsmanship, and adherence to the rules through knowledge of them as well as conduct, importance of ethics and such other subjects as deemed appropriate. The BHSA is governed by a member elected Board of Directors whose mission is:
- To adhere to the rules and standards set forth by the BHSA and to work to further its goals and objectives.
- To ensure that the welfare of the horse is the foremost consideration and that every horse shall be treated
humanely, with dignity and compassion.
- To conduct all business affairs with transparency and accuracy to promote confidence among all
equestrians and the public in the Hunter/Jumper industry.
