Camp Tail-Waggers Kennel

Camp Tail-Waggers Kennel Where dogs go for fun!! We are a homey kennel in rural Catlett, Va. The kennel is located here on our 9 acres at our home. The other building is set up like home!

We have no outdoor runs -- just big yards for the dogs to go out and play in among the trees! One building is set up like your typical kennel, with indoor, separate runs. They are large runs, easily fitting a couple dogs if you want your babies to stay together! This is for dogs who are either destructive, or perhaps easily intimidated or slightly bullying, maybe a little aggressive! The dogs hang

out together on couches and are free to roam around the room and play together. Only dogs who aren't destructive and who I can trust to get along well together are allowed to stay in this room. Regardless of where they stay, everyone gets out 4 -6 times a day for play time. First outing is around 7 in the morning, last one is around 11 at night. They go out in groups or individually depending on temperaments.

Great opportunity to help veterans!!

Prince, a male Bombay cat, recently needed urgent boarding when his owner, a retired Veteran, required medical care.

Now, he’s heading out on his very first road trip, traveling three hours to a volunteer Boarder’s home that could take him in on short notice.

Here’s what his owner shared:

"Hooray! Prince is going on his 1st Road Trip to his boarder home today. I initially messaged boarders within an hour of me, but nobody replied to their PMs. Then, I began messaging every Boarder in the Virginia contacts list... it will be a 3-hour drive, but peace of mind and exceptionally quick placement on such short notice! Thank you, Dogs on Deployment, for this very useful and effective website!"

This is what the Hero Pet Boarding Network makes possible. Not just deployments, but medical situations, hardship, and life transitions where military members and veterans need pet care support.

If you have room in your home and heart, consider becoming a DoD Boarder for pets like Prince.

What do you think??

Yes!!

Yes!!

A lot of people who are frustrated with their dog’s behavior are actually very good dog trainers.

Really.

They’ve just been training their dog to do things they don’t like.

Many people don’t realize all the different ways they’re reinforcing behavior.
Because in dog training, food isn’t the only reward.

In fact, some of the most powerful rewards are things we give all the time without thinking:
• Attention
• Play
• Praise
• Access (to people, places, or things)
• Fun
• Even laughter

Good trainers use these rewards deliberately to reinforce behaviors they want.
But many dog owners accidentally use those same rewards to reinforce behaviors they don’t like.

Like:
• Talking to a barking dog (and ignoring a quiet dog)
• Letting a pulling dog move forward
• Giving attention to a jumping dog
• Chasing a dog that runs away

From the dog’s point of view, these behaviors work.
So they keep doing them.

One of the most important first steps in solving behavior problems is simple:
Stop reinforcing the unwanted behavior.

Have you ever accepted a piece of cheese from a human only to realize there was a suspicious little pill hiding inside? Many good dogs have fallen victim to this classic household deception, trusting the promise of cheese only to discover it came with unexpected conditions. If this has happened to you, you are not alone, and justice may be within reach. Every pup deserves honesty, dignity, and snacks that are exactly what they claim to be. If you or a loved one has experienced cheese related trickery, it may be time to explore your options. 🐾

Lol!!

Sometimes the universe has a strange sense of humor 😅

After two weeks of searching for his missing cat, a man finally spotted a black and white cat that looked exactly like his. Same fur pattern, same calm behavior, same presence. Convinced it was his pet, he brought the cat home, relieved that the stressful wait was finally over.

Friends celebrated online as he shared the news, believing the story had reached a happy ending.
