We love our friends over at The Blue Hoof! This is the only stuff I’ll ever use for treating thrush and white line disease. It’s non-caustic, easy to apply, and works so well.

I love taking my time in the morning to enjoy my pony. It may not be a ride every day kind of enjoyment but it’s the kind that makes fills my cup as a horsewoman. I love being able to spend time with Cricket, just grooming her and playing with all the fun tricks that I taught her when I was a kid. I’m very grateful that I get to have this with my childhood pony!

This is a hill that I will die on, animals that require farrier visits should have their hooves handled regularly! I do it for a couple of different reasons:

1. Keeping their feet clean and picking them up daily helps minimize diseases and can help catch diseases early (think, thrush and white line disease which is why I use The Blue Hoof “The Blue Spray” daily!)
2. It teaches your animal to be accepting of their hooves being picked up and cleaned out. When the farrier does come, it isn’t a big scary deal!
3. Grooming and regular hoof care helps create a bond between you and your animal. It also helps you get to know your animal’s baseline “normal” behavior and body!

How often do you pick up your horse or donkey’s hooves? 👀

My ponies absolutely love when I come out with breakfast! They are so good and know their routine well. Both girls go into their respective stalls to eat their grain. Once they’re done, I put grazing muzzles on and they go out to pasture!

I don’t know if there’s anything more satisfying 😍 Love pre-measuring my feed for the ponies. Not only is it super satisfying, but it also makes life so much easier when you’re short on time. Horses never miss a meal and everyone gets exactly the amount they should!

As we approach November 1st in Michigan, I wanted to share how I drain my hose to keep it from freezing solid! This is an easy, low-tech, low budget way to keep your hose from accidentally becoming a solid rubber noodle in the winter.

I’m aware that there are other ways to do this including keeping it in a heated place where it will not freeze, using an air compressor, or other methods but this is the way we do it in my barn. This is the way that has worked well for us and we will continue doing it this way since it requires little training, equipment, or time.

After I wrapped up teaching, I took my favorite donkey for a little walk this evening. She got to hang out while my husband made dinner for us on the grill! 🫶🏻 She’s come so far in her halter handling skills as well as her desensitization. I’m so proud of Sweet Pea!

Halter from our friends over at The Classic Equestrian 🫶🏻 So grateful they had a tiny donkey sized halter on hand so she can look just as fancy as all the big Warmbloods! 🤣

Both Eliana and Elsa had amazing rides tonight on their boys, Noble and Ladarius.

Elaina rode Noble first and had a great ride on him working on keeping him soft through his transitions.

Then Elsa and Ladarius did a little work focusing mostly on improving the connection and upfront while maintaining energy and Elsa’s position.

The girls then swapped horses and Eliana got to work on transitions with Ladarius while Elsa worked on her position on Noble.

Both girls and both horses were fabulous! It was a beautiful fall evening for rides.

Noble is not quite sure he loves the fact that I have turned him into a little bit of an all around horse but he has been very willing to at least give it his best try. From a very forward jumper to now being able to play around ba****ck and neck rein is a huge deal! We love a good versatile horse over here 👏🏻
