July is Lost Pet Prevention Month. Losing a pet is something that no pet-owner wants to experience, but there are things that we all can do as pet owners to help keep our fur kiddos safe, as well as making it easier for them to be returned to us if they do get lost.

- Microchipping your pet is a safe and easy way to make sure that your information is connected to your pet! Make sure that your pet's microchip is registered and that your contact information is up to date; If your pet is found and brought to a shelter / veterinary clinic, they will be able to scan your pet and contact you.
- Giving your pet a sturdy collar with your contact information is a great visual identifier for your pet if they are found, and greatly increases the chances of your pet being returned to you.
- Environmental safety is very important for our pets! Having a secure fence, a strong leash, a sturdy carrier, proper outdoor enclosures- this and more can play a role in keeping our pets safe and sound.
