🎂🐾 Happy 7th Birthday to Nova & Ryker’s babies — who are most definitely NOT babies anymore! 🥹✨

Seven years ago, these sweet souls were our very first little ones here at K&M, and I honestly cannot believe how much time has flown. Watching them grow from tiny, wiggly pups into the beautiful, full-grown Goldens they are today has been one of the greatest joys of this journey. 🐕💛

They weren’t just our first little ones — they were the ones who started it all. The ones who showed us what this was really about. And because of them, so much has changed, grown, and become what K&M Golden Retrievers is today. 🏡❤️

🌿✨ The Enchanted Girls are 5 weeks old! ✨🌿

Briar 💛 and Wren 🩷 hit a big milestone this week — their first adventure in the great outdoors! They got to feel real grass under their tiny paws and breathe in all that fresh Northern Michigan air… along with approximately one million mosquitoes 😅🦟

Mama Athena was SO ready to play with her girls. She had the zoomies, the wiggles, the whole welcome-to-the-world energy — and Briar and Wren were like, “That’s great, Mom. Can we eat though?” 😂🍼

These two are the absolute sweetest. We cannot wait to continue to watch them grow! 🐾💛🌸

We spent this Memorial Day the way it was meant to be spent grateful and mindful of the men and women who gave everything so we could have days like this one.

Freedom isn’t free, and the people who paid for it deserve more than a day off — they deserve to be remembered.

To every Gold Star family, to every veteran who carries a name in their heart that never comes home — we see you today. Thank you will never be enough, but we mean it with everything we have.

🦟 Black Fly Season is Here — What Every Dog Owner Should Know!

If you’ve noticed a small, round, red or purple spot on your pup — especially on their belly, groin, inner thighs, or around their ears — don’t panic! It’s likely a black fly bite, and it’s very common this time of year in Northern Michigan.

Black fly bites on dogs can look pretty alarming. They often appear as a raised, dark red or bruised-looking circular welt, sometimes with a small scab in the center. Your pup may not even realize they’ve been bitten!

Here’s the good news: these bites are almost always harmless and typically heal completely on their own within 48 hours. 🐾

What to watch for:

✔️ A round, red/purple raised welt (often looks worse than it is!)
✔️ Mild swelling or irritation around the bite site
✔️ Your dog may lick or scratch at the area

When to call your vet:

⚠️ If bites are not improving after 48 hours
⚠️ If you notice excessive swelling, oozing, or spreading redness
⚠️ If your dog seems lethargic, feverish, or is scratching excessively
⚠️ If multiple bites appear and your dog seems uncomfortable

For now, just keep an eye on it, try to limit outdoor time during peak black fly hours (dawn and dusk), and resist the urge to over-treat it — these little nuisances usually resolve quickly on their own!

💛 Nala’s Virtue Littles Are 3 Weeks Old 💛

A little belated, but these babies officially hit the 3 week mark on Wednesday — and we are just completely head over heels for them! 🥹🤍

So much has happened in just one week. The puppies have moved into their bigger space and are already loving the room to stretch those tiny legs. We’ve done 3 nail trims (those little claws are NO joke 😅), and every single day we watch them get more and more mobile — wobbly and determined and the absolute cutest things we’ve ever seen.

Three weeks in and we are soaking. up. every. single. day. with these babies. They are so small and so sweet, and we are cherishing every quiet moment with them before the world gets to meet them. 💛

Two years ago, seven perfect little beans came into the world and stole our hearts completely — and somehow, impossibly, they're already TWO. 🐾💛

The Nala × Helios Coffee Little Ones was such a special group from day one, and watching them grow up through the eyes of their families has been one of our greatest joys. We are SO proud of every single one of them.

Nala knows exactly what she’s doing. 👑🐾

This is her last time raising little ones, and it shows. What started as seated nursing sessions has evolved over the last week into full standing nursing — and it’s not laziness, it’s intentional.

Standing nursing gets those babies MOVING. They have to work for it — repositioning, pushing, finding their spot — and that effort builds strength, teaches early dynamics, and gets their little bodies engaged from day one. 💪🐾

She’s been here before. She knows the assignment. And she is raising her final little ones exactly the way a seasoned, confident mama does — with purpose behind every single choice.

We just get to watch and take notes. 📋😂

✨ Four weeks old. FOUR. WEEKS.

Briar and Wren — Athena & Ditri’s Enchanted Girls officially hit the four-week mark yesterday, and I honestly don’t know where the time went.

I can still picture waiting anxiously for Athena to have them. Just the two of them and somehow that has made every single day feel even more precious.

Yellow girl Briar and Pink girl Wren are growing so fast, discovering the world around them, and becoming more themselves every day. 🐾

And here’s the part that gets me every time — we’re already halfway to go-home day. Halfway.

This is the part that no one really talks about. You fall so completely in love with these little ones, pour everything into their early weeks, and then you blink… and it’s almost time to hand them off to the families who’ve been dreaming about them just as long as you have.

We are so grateful for every single moment we get with these girls.
