👀 You're not seeing double! At first glance, it might look like we posted two nearly identical photos... but there's a sweet story behind them.

Borrado came to Aggieland Humane one morning, and just a few hours later, his mom came to bring him home. 🥳 YAY! But there was just one problem: his sister Estrella was still missing, and she wasn't in our care. 😞

We processed Borrado's reclaim and waved goodbye, still full of hope that we would see Estrella soon.
AND THEN, before they drove away: a car pulled in!
Who was inside? ESTRELLA! DOUBLE YAY! 🥳🥳

Talk about perfect timing and some happy reunions!

The real-life superheroes? Foster parents! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

So far this year, 828 pets (236 dogs and puppies, and 592 cats and kittens) have experienced the lifesaving comfort and love of a foster home. 📊 Fun fact: nearly 50% of our population has spent time in foster care!

And as you read this, 164 pets are being cared for by super foster parents!

But here's the thing: Aggieland Humane is FULL. Vulnerable pets urgently need loving people to open their homes to them. The greatest need? Foster homes for large dogs and young kittens.

We are heartbroken for the people and pets impacted by this unimaginable tragedy.

If you are looking for a way to help, these organizations have boots on the ground and are working tirelessly to respond to this disaster: Austin Pets Alive!, Kerrville Pets Alive, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, Austin Animal Center, and Hill Country Humane Society.

Brazos Valley, we thank you for uplifting our neighbors in their time of crisis.

🚨 EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED with flooding in Kerr County!

The Guadalupe River is overflooded and has caused loss of life and devastation in Kerr County. We believe there will be a lot of pets hurt and displaced during this, and our support is needed.

Our teams are already in Kerrville, providing medical care onsite and beginning to transport animals. We will be working with Kerrville Pets Alive over the next several days and bringing pets from the Kerr County shelter to APA!

We need your help! Here’s how you can support:

🚙 Volunteer to drive to the hill country to pick up animals and/or bring supplies, support the intake, care and placement of onsite animals, and/or help accept and sort supplies onsite at APA! for the next few days

🐾 Sign up to emergency foster a dog or cat to make space for incoming animals

📦 Donations of supplies like pet food (dog and cat, both wet and dry), pet carriers, tarps, and towels. Supplies can be dropped off at our Cesar Chavez location until 7pm today (7/4) and then again tomorrow (7/5) from 8am-6pm

Howdy! I'm Constance, a 10-year-old tortie searching for a quiet and cozy home to spend my golden years! I'm not much for playing with toys these days, and I definitely prefer naps over playtime. I've also heard a couple humans here say that I'm their favorite kitty. 😇

If you're 60 years or older, my adoption fee is completely waived thanks to Aggieland Humane's Seniors for Seniors program!
