🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Meet Jackie, LVT

Jackie is originally from San Diego, California and she moved to Maine in 2019. She started school for veterinary technology here in Maine and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician 🐾 🩺 🐶 🐱

She has been with Bath-Brunswick Veterinary for over a year and we are so lucky to have her! Her special interests here include surgery, anesthesia, and pain management. She takes great care of our patients, doing everything she can to make them feel comfortable while hospitalized here. 🐾

In her free time, she enjoys yoga, the beach, and walks with her dog, a Havanese named Dash. She also loves spending time with her son and her husband! She has enjoyed exploring Maine with her family 🤍

If you get the chance to see Jackie outside of the operating room, make sure to say hello!!

Did you know July is Heatstroke Awareness Month? Just like us, pets can overheat fast—especially outside on walks or in parked cars.

- Watch for signs like heavy panting, drooling, or lethargy🐾
- Never leave pets alone in the vehicle 🐾
- Always provide shade & water if outside. On extremely hot days, opt for low-key indoor activities 🐾

Here are a few tips to help prepare your furry friends to have a safe & stress free weekend:

- Ensure your pets are indoors and that the environment is escape-proof
- Make sure they have ID tags with your name and phone number
- Create a calm space using a covered crate or comfortable room. Add familiar blankets and play soft white noise or music
- Utilize prescription medications for fear, stress, and anxiety
- Offer toys and treats they can enjoy such as Kongs

With temperatures rising, make sure to keep your pets safe this summer 🌞

- Enjoy a shaded spot and always provide fresh water.

- Walk during early morning/evening hours when it’s cooler. On extremely hot/humid days, opt for indoor activites.

- Test pavement with your hand to ensure it’s not too hot for paws

- Never leave pets in cars, even with windows cracked!!
