🐾 June is National Pet Preparedness Month! 🌪️🐕🐈

Here in the South, we know emergencies can happen fast. Hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding, tornadoes, extended power outages, and even severe heat can force families to shelter in place or evacuate with little warning.
When you're making your family's emergency plan, don't forget the furry family members who depend on you.

✅ Make sure your pet is microchipped and wearing current ID tags

✅ Keep copies of vaccination records and medications in a waterproof container.

✅ Prepare an emergency kit with:
• Food and water for several days
• Medications and medical records
• Leash, collar, and carrier/crate
• Waste bags or litter supplies
• Favorite toy, blanket, or comfort item
• Recent photos of you with your pet

✅ Know where you'll go if you must evacuate. Not all shelters and hotels accept pets, so it's important to identify pet-friendly options before a disaster strikes.

✅ If you have horses, livestock, or other large animals, have transportation and evacuation plans in place long before they're needed.

One of the most important rules during an evacuation: If it isn't safe for you, it isn't safe for your pets. Never leave them behind.

🦟 Fleas aren’t just annoying… they can be dangerous.

Right now, there are growing concerns about flea-borne illnesses, including typhus outbreaks linked to fleas carried by pets and wildlife. A single flea can do a whole lot more than make your pet itch. These tiny pests can spread disease, trigger severe allergies, cause skin infections, and even lead to anemia in puppies and kittens. And here in Louisiana? Fleas don’t believe in “flea season.” 😅 The warm, humid weather means they stay active almost year-round.

If your pet is scratching, biting at their skin, losing hair, or you’re seeing little black specks in the fur, fleas may already be making themselves at home. Unfortunately, by the time you see fleas, there are usually MANY more hiding in the environment.

The good news: prevention is much easier (and cheaper) than treating a full-blown infestation. Monthly flea prevention protects your pets, your home, and your family.

Don’t let fleas turn your house into an all-you-can-eat buffet, cher. 🐾

📞 Call us if your pet needs flea prevention refills or if you’re not sure which product is best for your furry family member.

🦷🐾 Scout would like it officially noted that he was VERY brave today… even if he did spend recovery looking like the edible kicked in. 😂

This fluffy guy came in for a dental cleaning today, and while he had some tartar buildup that needed scaling, his teeth were healthy overall — which is exactly what we LOVE to see!

We cleaned, polished, and shined everything up, and now Scout is home recovering and probably wondering why the walls were breathing earlier. 💫

Dental care is about way more than fresh breath. By the time you can SEE heavy tartar or smell bad breath, dental disease is usually already underway. Without regular dental care, plaque and bacteria can lead to:

🦷 Painful gum infections

🦷 Loose or damaged teeth

🦷 Tooth loss

🦷 Bacteria spreading to important organs like the heart and kidneys

And the wild part? Most pets keep eating and acting normal even when their mouths hurt. They just quietly live with it.
Routine dental cleanings help us catch problems early, keep mouths healthy, and prevent bigger issues down the road.

Scout’s final review of today’s experience:

⭐ Staff was suspiciously nice 🤔

⭐ Nap was incredible

⭐ Scouts overall score? 0/10 for experience he would rather stay home with mom, but 10/10 for that fresh and clean feeling ✨ 🦷 ✨

🐾✨ May is Chip Your Pet Month! ✨🐾

Let’s talk about the tiniest lifesaver you may never see… but will be SO glad you have. 👀

A microchip is about the size of a long grain of rice 🌾—but it can be the difference between lost forever and back home where they belong. 🏡❤️

🚨 Collars fall off

🚨 Tags fade or break

✅ Microchips stay put for life

If your pet ever pulls a Houdini act (and let’s be honest… some of them are professionals 😅), a quick scan at a vet clinic or shelter can pull up your contact info faster than you can say “WHO LEFT THE DOOR OPEN?!”

💡 Already chipped? You’re not done yet!

Make sure your contact info is up to date—because a chip is only as good as the info attached to it!

🐶🐱 Whether they’re a backyard explorer, fence jumper, or just a curious Cajun critter… give yourself peace of mind knowing they’ve got a built-in ticket home.

📅 Stop by this month to get your pet microchipped—it’s quick, safe, and totally worth it.
Because no matter how far they wander…
home should always be just one scan away. 💚 🐾

🐾 Heartworm Update: It’s Not Just a “Southern Problem”… But We’re Still Ground Zero 🦟❤️

A recent report from the American Heartworm Society confirms what we see every day here in Louisiana—heartworm disease is still very common along the Gulf Coast, with our state ranking among the highest in the country.
But here’s the twist: cases are now popping up in areas that used to be considered low-risk, including parts of the West and even northern states.

Translation? Heartworms are officially a nationwide problem.

According to data shared by Veterinary Practice News (based on 2025 reporting from clinics and shelters):
The South still leads in heartworm cases (yes… we’re on that list 😬)
Many vets are seeing steady or increasing numbers and new regions are seeing more cases than ever before.

🦟 Why does this matter for your pet?
Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes—which we have plenty of here year-round. They aren't your average vampires as they don't need an invitation into your home. Just one bite from an infected mosquito can put your pet at risk.

💊 The good news:
Heartworm disease is easy to prevent with monthly prevention.

🚨 The hard truth:
Treatment is expensive, lengthy, and much harder on your pet than prevention.

🐶🐱 Our recommendation:
Keep your pets on year-round heartworm prevention—even indoor pets aren’t risk-free.

If you’re not sure if your pet is protected (or need to refill prevention), give us a call—we’re happy to help!

✨📞 Reception Appreciation Week! 📞✨

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible women who keep our front lines running smoothly every single day 💙

They’re the first friendly faces you see when you walk through our doors and the last reassuring smiles before you head home. They’re the voices on the phone scheduling appointments, answering questions, and sometimes even talking worried pet parents through scary emergencies.
Bree has been with us for 7.5 years, Anna 6., Liz 5, and Lainey for almost 2!

These lovely ladies are not only the faces behind the phones, but our literal front line strongholds —the calm in the chaos, the multitasking pros (mostly 😅) , and the heart of our front desk. They handle it all with grace, patience, and a whole lot of compassion. Whether it’s a wagging tail, a nervous owner, or a phone that just won’t stop ringing, they show up and give it their all every single time.

Next time you call or stop by, know these are the amazing humans helping to make it all happen 💚
Drop them some love in the comments—we couldn’t do it without them! 👏🐶🐱

🎶 Every step you take… every move you make… every snack you make…👀 Clyde will be watching you… 🎶

It’s Caterday, and Clyde is currently conducting a highly suspicious hallway stakeout 🕵️‍♂️🐱

We’re not saying he’s judging you……but we are saying he saw you grab that snack and didn’t get one. 😒

Nothing escapes this(not so) little peeping floof—not footsteps, not food, not your questionable life choices. He even has his own built in spy tuxedo. 🕵️

Drop a 👀 if your cat is also lurking around corners like a tiny, furry detective.
