Urgent call for a sick kitten in the city. Weight is only 9 oz at over a month of age (should be over a pound ) full of fleas , anemic, dehydrated….ugh
Then a black kitten was dropped off at my building this morning who had maggots all on his back and is constipated and is not registering a body temperature at all … then the call comes that my Volunteer has finally had someone relinquish their rights to the Kittens that they let indoor outdoor. Could I please take them? I don’t even know where I’m putting everybody. They’re in my bathroom. They’re in my bedroom we can’t keep up! When this plea came out the other day, no Rescue was able to step up as we all know we are jampacked full and drowning in cats and kittens. Most all are sick or injured …
As much as I did not have a single cage to put him in, I pulled my skittish cat out of her cage to open up a cage for this one . The girl who made the TikTok is from New York City and ran into this mess. His new name is Biscuit. This woman thinks she’s doing well by feeding, but as you can see, they are not doing well. They are skin and bones, full of fleas and worms and being injured by people who do not like them roaming the streets. I am beyond sad for the devastation that we are seeing. It’s hard to get up and keep going when I see that we cannot get a handle on this and we are failing as humans.
