It's another great day for puppy preschool!

Each Monday night, puppies and their owners gather for socialization, object orientation, puppy playtime, and owner education. The investment in a healthy start for your puppy is $100, which includes as many classes as you can get in prior to the time your puppy turns 18 weeks old and graduates. During those formative first 17 weeks of life, puppy preschool participants are laying a strong foundation for puppy's success.

Another great part of puppy preschool is that your puppy gets comfortable with the Kasten's training center. Thus, your dog is likely to be able to transition to boarding or training if you decide to transition to grown up training at our facility. If you schedule training within 4 months of puppy preschool graduation, there is no need to complete an evaluation. You can talk with the puppy specialist and collaborate on a plan of training, expediting the scheduling process!

Give your high energy dog the mental stimulation and activity they need!

In February 2025, we re-introduced doggie daycare at Kasten's. This has been a win all around: dogs benefit, owners benefit, trainers enjoy the variety during the week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, dogs arrive between 8 and 9:00 at our training center for a day stay and play time.

We implement doggie daycare a little differently. When the dogs first arrive they settle in for a bit prior to the first playtime. Then they play for an hour mid-morning and take a rest break in their kennels. Why? Because, just like humans, sometimes a tired, over-stimulated dog makes bad choices. After some rest time, the dogs get out to play again for another hour! Then another little rest break. Before we know it, owners arrive for pick up between 4:30 and 6:00 and everyone goes home for a good night's rest.

Today we meet Trystan, trainer and canine comedian extraordinaire. Trystan has been with KDT for approximately 5 years, completing multiple continuing education dog training seminars. He plans his work schedule with intentionality, including time during each shift to go home a moment to play with Aria, his German shepherd, providing mid-day mental stimulation, potty break, and exercise.

Customers encounter Trystan’s trainer expertise (and humor) during an evaluation, follow-up lesson, private lesson, or Go Home owner education. Owners seem to particularly enjoy his comical dog impersonations.

In his spare time, Trystan enjoys just about anything outdoors. The more nature, the better. He is especially fond of weekend adventures that involve a trip to Lake Michigan. Well, let's be honest, Lake Michigan . . . and race cars.

Kasten's Dog Training is partnering with Ribbon of Hope for their first ever Paws for Hope dog social, dog show, overall dog-fun day, AND fundraiser for cancer support services in Elkhart County!

We hope you will join us September 6th between 9 and noon at Brenneman Missionary Church, north of Goshen. While you are there, stop a KDT staff member and let us know you came. We would love the opportunity to say hello.

Little Miss Ethel grew up!

From All-Star puppy program in March to Program 2, Optimal Obedience, in August this Fawn River Doodles puppy is off to a great start in life.

Ethel has been living near Indianapolis. Her parents were so pleased with her progress during her puppy program, they returned for grown up training.
