To all my loyal followers of this page. We are no longer in business but I love all animals and decided to keep this page going. I try to check it occasionally, but I just wanted you all to know that most of the posts on here are not from me. As long as they are animal related I keep them up for viewing. Sometimes off subject topics get posted and I try to delete them when I see them. Thanks for loving animals and for learning more about them.

In Sweden, a newly developed eco friendly deicing mixture is replacing traditional road salt that often harms birds and wildlife. The innovative formula, made from beetroot extract and cornstarch, melts ice effectively while also being safe for animals to consume, preventing dangerous dehydration caused by high sodium levels.

Environmental groups and scientists see this as a major step forward, combining road safety with wildlife protection. The creators of the project hope it will inspire similar sustainable solutions in cold regions around the world.

Have you ever seen an owl smile?

Just kidding, owls don't smile like we do. But our senior barn owl Valkyrie sure brings smiles to our guests' faces. At the ripe old age of 13 years old, she's an incredible ambassador for her species at Stone Zoo: zoonewengland.org/stone-zoo/

Barn owls can be found nearly worldwide in tropical and temperate regions and on every continent except Antarctica. Whether making its home in open country, groves, farms, barns, towns or cliffs, they are great at pest control: a pair of the birds can kill about 1,000 mice in the span of a year.
