Here’s your reminder to get those babies on heartworm prevention! ❤️🪱🦟

Microfilariae are microscopic, baby heartworms (larvae) released into the bloodstream by adult female heartworms, which reside in the heart and lungs of infected animals. They are transmitted between pets exclusively via mosquitoes, which pick them up and carry them to new hosts. Detecting microfilariae proves the presence of adult worms.

Give us a call to get your pet updated on a heartworm test and start prevention.

Recent ice and snow storms across North Mississippi and the Delta have once again reminded us how quickly disaster can strike.

The Mississippi Animal Disaster Relief Fund (MADRF) is at the ready to provide monetary assistance to animals and those who care for them during times of disaster.

🐾 If you have been affected, you may apply for assistance by completing the Disaster Relief Application Form.
💙 Donations are also greatly appreciated and help ensure MADRF can continue responding when emergencies occur.

The State of Mississippi has been no stranger to disasters — and MADRF exists to help when animals and their caregivers need it most.

To whoever abandoned their adult tabby cat and/or abandoned a stray cat in a carrier at our side door the cat unfortunately escaped your cage. We have this all on video footage. We are here to help our community and our pets. This is never the answer. We can always help anyone find resources to safely place your pet into a new home or be adopted out. Now unfortunately this poor cat is lost and near a very busy highway and we are unable to aid any help it may have needed. Please call us for any information on how to properly and safely rehome any pet. A vet clinic door drop off is not the way to ever go about it. We will be happy to help any way we can but this is not ethical. We are here and ready to help but we have to work together. This post is to bring awareness on the dangers of leaving a pet unattended intentions may be pure but it could lead to more issues. The safety of the pets is our main priority.

In no way has any shame been made towards this woman, nor has age been a factor in the matter. We are bringing awareness of what can happen when doing this. We are more than willing to work with people when it comes to the care for their pets or found pets. We have taken countless animals in and rehomed them. We have not sought legal action nor have we searched for this woman. We have this happen so much that it was time we brought it to the light. We are more than willing to work with anyone for the well being of the animal. But this post is for awareness not to shame which is why we’ve concealed identity the fact of the matter is a pet was abandoned at our door and stressed enough to break free and now is lost.

Please make sure your pets are up to date on their Rabies vaccination.

Please make sure your pets are up to date on their Rabies vaccination.

In April, we coordinated to send out a bat found by 2 puppies in Tippah county… the bat was positive for rabies. The dogs had to be quarantined and the family had to have post exposure immunizations. Last week, a similar situation happened in Benton county… 2 cats were playing with a bat, and the bat tested positive for rabies. This family is now undergoing pet quarantine and injections as well.

Rabies is a fatal condition for mammals, including pets and humans. The state requires 1 or 3 year rabies vaccines, which only a veterinarian can administer. Please make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccine!! It’s an easy phone call to make, and an inexpensive injection.
