I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is donating to try to help keep the sanctuary going, as well as everyone who has been donating and trying to help us out the last 2 years since I’ve taken over. It means more than you know. Between the horrible conditions they were living in for years, the poor health conditions they were in when I got here, how aggressive they were acting because they didn’t trust humans because of the situations they were put in before they had to come here, they’ve come along way. They deserve the best. The truth is that, if I didn’t take over, the majority of these animals would have been euthanized because of how aggressive they were. They would have been too much of a liability for another shelter to take on but I was up for the challenge. I knew that all they needed was to learn how to trust and heal on their own time, without being forced. No matter how stressed I am about getting the sanctuary back in order, I don’t regret it for one minute. Our biggest accomplishment has been getting these animals to trust again, where we’ve already had over 30 dogs pulled and adopted out or fostered with the help of Anita's Stevens Swan Humane Society and the Jefferson County SPCA. Without these 2 organizations, it wouldn’t have been possible. However, if we did have to shut down, there are still a handful of dogs that would not be able to be transferred. They would be a liability because it takes them longer to trust new people with the abuse and neglect they’ve endured before coming here. They’ve made so much progress over the last 2 years and I want this sanctuary to remain a safe place for them for the remainder of their lives because it’s not their fault that they were severely mistreated by a human. I know times are hard for everyone but I really appreciate everyone coming together and trying to help us out in anyway you can. I couldn’t have gotten this far without each and every one of you ❤️
