We are Boise's cageless, no-kill, feline adoption center. Adoptions and surrenders are by appointment only. No appointment needed for retail shopping.

Simply Cats is Boise, Idaho's no-kill, cageless feline adoption center. Simply Cats got its start (with just six cats!) as Just Strays Animal Foundation, Inc., in a one room office in 1986. Thanks to a very dedicated group of people, the shelter grew and moved into a larger building. In 2006, the name of the organization was changed to Simply Cats Adoption Center to reflect its feline-only animal population. Meanwhile, plans were underway to construct a brand new state-of the-art adoption center. Thanks to generous donors, the facility was constructed and donated in 2007 and has been our home ever since. Today, Simply Cats Adoption Center shelters over 100 cats and kittens and operates due to the hard work of a small staff and many volunteers. Simply Cats is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on donations for funding.

Come see us this Halloween at Northwest Pets for their annual Pet Costume Contest! 🎃

Join us tomorrow, October 31 from 10 AM to 1 PM in the parking lot for a fun-filled morning! Enjoy a local coffee truck, vendors, other rescues, fresh dog woofles, huge prizes, and more. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids, dogs, and even the cats!

Costume contest registration begins at 10 AM, and the contest starts at 11 AM. Enter in any of the following categories:

Celebrate the spirit of Halloween and 🍬✨TREAT✨🍬 our cats and kittens to lickable Churu treats, wet food, litter boxes, cozy beds, and more!

Right now, we have 80 cats and kittens on our adoption floor and 106 in our foster program. And that doesn’t even include the cats in the back receiving care from our cat care team!

In the days leading up to Halloween, show our cats and kittens just how loved they are by helping us keep their bellies full and sending some extra treats their way.

Meet Gretchen and Regina, two Texas besties looking for their Idahome! 🤠❤

These sweet girls made the journey from Texas after being rescued from an unsafe cat colony, and now they're ready for their next chapter. Gretchen is a petite dilute tortie with a playful spirit and a big heart, while Regina is a sweet black and white tuxie with the cutest pink nose and lips.

These two are the purrfect balance of playful and affectionate! They snuggle, groom each other, and play and bicker like sisters. They match each other’s energy levels, keeping each other entertained with playtime and chasing wand toys. They also love soaking up the sunshine in the catio and watching the birds. Both girls are also very affectionate with people and will happily curl up in your lap or relax nearby while purring away.

Gretchen and Regina would love to find a home together, but they can also be adopted separately. Whether they find a home as a pair or each find a family of their own, these Texas girls are ready to trade their past for a bright future filled with love.

UPDATE (10/29): We are so happy to share that Honey Bug has officially found her forever home!

Please don’t overlook shy cats....Honey Bug has been patiently waiting nearly six months for someone to take a chance on her.

When Honey Bug first arrived at Simply Cats, she spent most of her time hiding, slowly building up the courage to come out of her shell. Over the last month, though, she’s grown braver and blossomed into the sweetest, roly-poly girl! She can be easy to miss when she hangs in the shadows and may not be the first to approach you, but if you take the time to get to know her, she’ll show you just how loving and special she is.

Honey Bug loves when you talk sweetly to her and tell her how beautiful she is. She’ll flop onto her side, roll around, rub against everything, and make the best biscuits as she reaches out for you. She adores pets, has an adorable elevator butt, and even has a cute little crackly meow she uses to tell you all about her day.

As much as she loves attention, Honey Bug can sometimes get overstimulated, so she’ll need an understanding adopter who can recognize when she needs a little break.

Honey Bug would do best in a quiet, patient home without young children. With slow and proper introductions, she could do well living with other cats. Her experience with dogs is unknown, but she may also do well with a calm, respectful dog.

WE HAVE THE BEST NEWS! 🩷 One of our longest-staying residents has officially found his forever home!

After nearly seven months with us, Zorro’s wait finally came to an end this past Friday! At 10 years old, this darling boy spent far too long waiting for someone to see just how special he is. While we think he’s perfect, being a shy senior and a black panther boy, it took a little longer for his person to come along.

Now, Zorro gets to spend his golden years spoiled and loved, traveling alongside his new mom in a spacious camper and making wonderful memories together wherever the road takes them.

We’ll miss you so much, Zorro! Have a bright and beautiful life, sweet boy.

I used to be a stray. One day a kind person found me in a park with a broken tail, scooped me up, and got me to the vet. That's how I ended up at Simply Cats.

I'm a lover at heart, though it might take me a minute to show you. Everything here is new to me, and I'm still getting my bearings, but I'm trying really hard to be brave. If I give you a slow blink, that's me saying I'm starting to trust you. And every time we hang out, I soften up a little more.

I'm a friendly guy who just needs someone to go at my pace. Take it slow with me, and I think you'll find I'm well worth the wait.
