Simply Cats is Boise, Idaho's no-kill, cageless feline adoption center. Simply Cats got its start (with just six cats!) as Just Strays Animal Foundation, Inc., in a one room office in 1986. Thanks to a very dedicated group of people, the shelter grew and moved into a larger building. In 2006, the name of the organization was changed to Simply Cats A

doption Center to reflect its feline-only animal population. Meanwhile, plans were underway to construct a brand new state-of the-art adoption center. Thanks to generous donors, the facility was constructed and donated in 2007 and has been our home ever since. Today, Simply Cats Adoption Center shelters over 100 cats and kittens and operates due to the hard work of a small staff and many volunteers. Simply Cats is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on donations for funding.

That’s a wrap on Clear the Shelters 2026—and what a month it was!

🎉 102 cats & kittens adopted
💛 $19,000+ raised, with even more still to come once matching challenges are added in!

We’re especially proud that two of our long-term residents, Chester and Barcelona, finally got their second chance after being with us for several months.

That brings us to 585 adoptions so far this year, including the adoptions we've had so far this September! To everyone who adopted, donated, volunteered, shared, or simply cheered us on: we see you, we appreciate you, and we couldn’t do this without you!

D***y has been patiently waiting over four months for his forever home.

Since D***y didn't get adopted last month, we’ve decided to roll him over as our September Everyone Needs a Home sponsored cat. Thanks to the Cendejas Group at Keller Williams Realty Boise and Eric Leigh with Rate, his adoption fee is fully covered this month, meaning you can bring D***y home at no cost!

If you’re looking for a chill and laid-back cat, D***y is your guy! He’s an expert at finding the coziest spots to nap and often has his little tongue sticking out. He also enjoys playing with wand toys.

When he’s feeling affectionate, D***y can be a total sweetheart. He’ll rub against everything around him, purr happily, and, once he gets to know you, he'll even flop onto his back to show off his fluffy belly! He also has an independent side and will let you know when he wants some alone time.

He has had several almosts when it comes to finding a home, but ultimately, they felt a stronger connection with another cat. As the months have passed, shelter life has started to take a toll on him.

When D***y first arrived, he was shy and nervous. Once he settled in, he blossomed into the sweetest, most roly-poly boy. Now that he has been here for quite some time, he has become more standoffish and isn’t quite acting like himself.

He still has a sweet side, but the stress of being in a shelter for so long can be difficult for any cat, and D***y deserves the chance to finally relax, feel secure, and be himself again. We truly believe that once he is in a home, his affectionate personality will have the opportunity to shine like it once did.

At 22 pounds, D***y is a big boy who needs a home where he can continue working toward a healthier weight. He came to Simply Cats after his family had to move and has been here ever since, patiently waiting for someone to take a chance on him.

Wrex is our longest-staying resident and is still patiently waiting for his forever home….

When he first arrived back in December, he spent a lot of time being nursed back to health after facing a life-threatening condition. Today, he’s more than ready to finally find his special someone.

This boy is one of the sweetest, lap-loving cats you'll ever meet! At 7 years old, this chatty boy loves people and can never get enough pets. He'll rub against you and flop at your feet to ask for more attention. When he's not cuddling or following you around, you'll find him bird-watching or napping in a soft bed.

Wrex is confident and easy-going when he walks outside in his harness, making him the perfect adventure cat to take with you on trips! He also loves cat grass and will devour it.

Wrex is often overlooked because of his Type 2 diabetes. He is otherwise an extremely healthy cat. He receives insulin shots every 12 hours, every day, and will need periodic blood sugar checks at home. Thankfully, Wrex is an absolute rock star for both, making it very easy to do! He's very food-motivated and will literally be so distracted by food that he barely notices what you are doing.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Tara Koble, will be available for advice on his diabetes at any point after adoption, although Simply Cats cannot offer ongoing primary veterinary care. We will, however, provide up to 6 months' worth of both insulin, syringes, and monitoring supplies and at least 1–2 follow-up visits over the first several months after adoption. The overall cost for his ongoing diabetes management is estimated to be about $20 a month (insulin, test strips, syringes).

Wrex needs an understanding adopter, preferably someone who understands the ins and outs of diabetes and has a consistent schedule who can give him his insulin regularly. With proper introductions, he could do well with other cats and would do best in a home with older kids.

A kind volunteer has also prepaid his adoption fee!

I’m Fergie, and I’d like to formally request your attention. All of it, please.

I’m a playful gray and white tuxedo girl who loves spring toys, zooming around the room and chatting with my favorite people. I’m a cuddle bug and a professional roly poly. I love being doted on, and I’m always happy to return the favor with plenty of purrs.

In my opinion, there’s no such thing as too much affection… or conversation. Want to tell me about your favorite reality TV show? Had a tough day at work? Can’t decide what to make for dinner? I'm the most proficient biscuit maker in town. My full time job is being a loverboy, but I moonlight as the best baker around.

My people packed up and moved, and for reasons I'll never know, they left me behind. Thankfully, some kind neighbors realized I wasn't cut out for outdoor life. I'm so nice, I probably wouldn't hurt a mouse. They brought me to Simply Cats so I could find someone who will appreciate my big heart and my impressively long ear whispies.

I'm sweet, interactive and so full of charm that I'm sure to win someone over soon.
