Please join us in thanking and congratulating our Foster and Volunteer of the Month, Sarah and Kameron! 🎉
Some foster cases are harder than others. This past month, Sarah took on a fragile, very sick kitten who needed around-the-clock care, frequent check-ins, and more than a few late-night visits to the shelter. She gave him everything: her time, her sleep, and her whole heart. She learned new skills to care for him without a moment of hesitation, even knowing how uncertain the road ahead was.
This is a side of foster care that doesn't get talked about enough. Not every animal that comes into a shelter will make it, but every single one deserves to be loved, and the most fragile ones need that love in a home, not a shelter. The outcome wasn't what any of us hoped for. But the grace, dedication, and warmth Sarah brought to an incredibly difficult situation is something our team won't forget.
Kameron is a familiar face on Saturday mornings at the shelter. He's a dedicated part of our Shelter Care team, but when the work there is caught up, you'll find him pitching in with room cleaning, something he proactively signed up for after asking if there was anything more he could do to help. That kind of initiative says a lot about who he is.
Easygoing and genuinely caring, Kameron always makes time to stop and visit and love on the cats before heading home. That's our kind of volunteer. With 85 hours of volunteer service, his consistency, warmth, and willingness to tackle any task make him a joy to have on our team. The cats are lucky to have him in their corner. And so are we.
