Lucky is still looking for his home, he is almost 2 and is a shy and spicy boy at first. Once he is familiar with you and his new environment he loves to be with you. Lucky is one who if given the chance to have a cockatiel friend he would ditch you and bond to the other bird. However if it’s just him and his human he gets so excited when you walk in the room. He does flock call for you so if noise is an issue or constant need for your attention this boy wouldn’t be a good fit.

He is on pellets now. Lucky has always been clipped however has grown some flight feathers and is a rather chaotic and nervous flyer right now.

After nearly 5 months with Daphne being in our home she has officially found her family. I couldn’t be more excited with who she has gone with. Daph is going to be very very loved and spoiled, with many adventures ahead. She is very opinionated and will go after people she doesn’t like for whatever reason. But she went to both of them just fine! My heart is sad to have to say goodbye but I’m also overwhelmed with joy and gratitude that they are the ones who she has chosen and that they also choose her ♥️🥹. Thank you to everyone who watched and supported her journey while with us, I know many of you felt attached to her as well. ♥️

I love getting updates on all birds who have been with us. Kiwi is living his best life being Spoiled and loved. He still figures out where you keep the goods and makes it a mission to get to the food 🤣

UPDATES:

We have not had any extra entries in the giveaway however it’s been up for so long I will end up drawing for the winners tomorrow. We ended up spending more on this one than what was entered 😅. But I can’t leave you all who have entered hanging any longer. We are also still very behind on our monthly minimum goal needed, we have currently raised $250 out of our minimum $1000 needed by the end of the month. Each month we have a sponsor goal that helps with everything needed for the care of our current and future intakes. The past few months we have been short which is why this month is more than previous.

🎉🎉🎉EDIT: PENDING ADOPTION 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Sweet Daphne is still waiting for her person. She has been here so long that she has chosen me and shown me that with dedicated time and attention she would absolutely be a ladies best friend.

With that being said, she is not bird friendly. However if she is in a home with other birds who stay on their own cage or in their own space she is fine. She does need a home with someone or her person home most of the time. She starts plucking for two reasons that I have noticed 1. If she is at all around Male eclectus and 2. If her person is gone for too long. She LOVES attention from you. She does have strong opinions about some people and I can’t pin point exactly what it is that sets her off. She just doesn’t like some people and with try to get them if they get too close. Otherwise she would absolutely be a very best friend to a lady who understands eclectus needs and hormones.

I apologize for the lack of updates the past week. As some of you know every year I am the main point of contact for sprinkler blowouts for my husband’s excavation company. It takes up A LOT of my time, we are finishing up our last week of blowouts and then I will be back on track here.

I’m grateful for our team who has been in contact with each other as well as helping with up coming surrenders and applications.

Still looking for homes We have multiple cockatiels, the senior trio who has been with us for many months now, two individual boys, and Daphne female eclectus is still in search of her person.

With me being away for a week we have not been as active sharing our goals. We have currently only raised $100 out of our minimum $1000 needed by the end of the month. Each month we have a sponsor goal that helps with everything needed for the care of our current and future intakes. The past few months we have been short, this month we are extremely behind.

🦜INTRODUCTION POST 🦜

Yesterday we welcomed two cockatiels Bugsy & Lucky to WTFR.

Bugsy is a 2 year old sweet boy who can be shy to new people but warms up quickly. He is said to be an absolute sweetheart who loves to give kisses and be with his people.

Lucky is a 1.5 year old also sweetie as well but is a little more shy and timid at first. He loves to whistle back and forth with me but is still warming up to the idea of stepping up. He is known to bond closer to female humans than men.

They will be transitioning from seed to pellet while we get to know them better. They are not a bonded pair and not caged together.

We are in desperate need of sponsors to help get us to our minimum needed goal. We have been short the past two months with last month being $300 behind. I will carry that into this month’s needed goal which will be $1000 minimum needed. Monetary gifts help with any needed vet expenses, emergency savings for the unexpected, any supplies, grooming, the rescues storage rental, etc. As we are adding more fosters we may need to start purchasing a few more foster cages as well as more supplies to purchase and pass out.

📣FOSTERS NEEDED 📣

We are in need of more volunteer fosters for future birds! As my dad’s ALS progresses I will need to be more available for my family as well as more available for my own kids. Which means I need to make sure WTF has a reliable team to keep things going even when I can’t be at the front of it all. It’s so important that we have a team that can work together well and be VERY communicative. If you can’t foster but are wanting to volunteer your time such as cage pick up and delivery or cleanings, see the optional work at the bottom of this post. Fill out foster application either way. Please keep in mind This is 100% volunteer.

🦜Are you 25 or older?

🦜Live within 30 minutes of Nampa/Kuna.

🦜Have reliable transportation.

🦜Are you be willing to pick up foster birds or help with surrenders and adoptions when needed.

🦜Have a clean, tidy, safe home/environment?

🦜No use of nonstick cookware/Teflon, aerosol sprays, no candles or wax melts,

🦜Smoke and v**e free home

🦜Able to safely separate foster birds from other pets when needed.

🦜Willing to follow the rescue’s care instructions, even if they differ from your usual practices or personal birds diet/care.

🦜Are you Teachable, dependable, and willing to communicate.

🦜Experience is a plus, especially with large parrots, but not required.

🦜Willing to be a part of a team of other fosters

🔴Foster responsibilities: provide daily care, get to know the bird’s personalities and needs by daily interaction, follow WTFR care instructions, send updates and photos often, communicate concerns promptly, assist with adoptions or surrender meetups when needed

Optional involvement:
🦜Participate in rescue events if interested.
🦜Cage pick ups and delivery
🦜Cage cleaning/dump runs when needed
🦜Bird surrender transport (within a few hours when needed)
