Apparently someone has been waiting very patiently for the breakfast buffet. 🦊🐔

This is also a pretty good reminder when it comes to our dogs: instinct matters.

Prey drive, chasing, hunting, guarding, herding—these are natural behaviors, not a dog being “bad.” Training doesn’t erase genetics. It teaches the dog how to respond to us even when instinct kicks in.

A solid recall, impulse control, boundaries, and neutrality around other animals aren’t just fun obedience skills. Sometimes they’re safety skills.

It’s always a pleasure having a well-bred, genetically sound young dog in for training!

At just 4 months old, this German Shepherd is already showing a great foundation. Tristan is doing very well in his private lessons, and with continued training, consistency, and maturity, he has the potential to become an exceptional dog.

Good genetics give us a strong foundation—thoughtful training helps bring out that potential. 🐾
