🐾 Meet Riva — formerly known as Bee! 🐾

A new name, a new family, and a brand-new beginning! ❤️

Riva was just adopted from Mission Valley Animal Shelter, where she spent the last four months waiting for her forever home.

This sweet girl is estimated to be a 9-month-old Boxer/Lab mix, and her new owners wanted to give her the very best start to her new life! They brought her straight from the shelter to us for our three-week Board & Train program.

While Riva has plenty to learn, our first priority is helping her decompress, build trust, and feel safe in her new environment. After four months in a shelter, she’s experiencing a lot of changes in a very short time. We want to give her the opportunity to settle in while gradually introducing structure, exercise, and training.

Over the next three weeks, we’ll be focusing on:

🐾 Learning her new name and building engagement

🐾 Decompression and developing trust

🐾 Exercise, enrichment, and appropriate outlets for her energy

🐾 Building confidence in new environments

🐾 Foundational obedience and leash manners

🐾 Polite greetings without jumping

🐾 Addressing counter surfing and developing household manners

🧬 We’re also doing a DNA breed and health test! The shelter has her listed as a Boxer/Lab mix, but we’re excited to discover what breeds make up this sweet girl and learn more about her genetic health. Stay tuned for the results!

Riva is incredibly sweet, and we’re looking forward to watching her personality blossom as she settles in.

Welcome to Bigfork Dog Training, Riva! Here’s to new beginnings, building confidence, and preparing for a wonderful life with your forever family! ❤️🐶

🐾 E-Collar Training with Togo & Mike!

Look at that focus! 👏

When Mike first started training with Togo, he was hesitant about using a prong collar. But something surprised him—Togo actually gets excited when he hears the prong collar come out! He knows it’s time to work, and he happily comes running!

Now Mike and Togo have progressed to e-collar training, and guess what? That same happy, enthusiastic response! 🐕

Why? Because we’ve taken the time to properly introduce, condition, and teach Togo what these tools mean. Training has been built around clear communication, consistency, and positive experiences.

It’s not just about the tool. It’s about how the dog is taught to understand it.

Watching Mike gain confidence in the training process while Togo continues to respond with enthusiasm is exactly what we love to see!

🎉🐾 Happy 11 Months, Bentley! 🐾🎉

Bentley, the Mini Bernedoodle, celebrated 11 months today with his second private lesson at Bigfork Dog Training!

Today we worked on something completely new for Bentley — the DOWN command!

Having never done a down before, it didn’t happen instantly. With a little patience, guidance, and food luring, Bentley figured it out! 👏

The best part? By the end of the lesson, Bentley went from being hesitant, to offering the down on his own!

That’s what training is all about! Helping dogs understand what we’re asking, building confidence, and watching those little breakthroughs turn into success.

Way to go, Bentley and Jennifer! 🐶💙

When you notice the neighbors having dinner and decide to see what’s on the menu! 😂🐕🦌

Apparently, nobody told him he wasn’t part of the herd!
