🐇 Benjamin (Fruitloop in a Cute Suit BCAT*) made his sports debut in FCAT, averaging ~24.6mph.

Northern Michigan in early April is a season of false starts. One day the snow melts, the birds sing, and it feels like spring is here. The next day another snow burst buries everything again.

Traditionally, this is the slowest time of year for our micro business, a stretch where orders ease up but the behind-the-scenes work never really stops.

Just like the weather, we are no stranger to the fact that the economy can fluctuate quickly. While we cannot predict these shifts, we can see that the landscape is changing. Small businesses like Sloppy Chops Co. are affected by even the smallest of adjustments, which are amplified on our micro level and can send ripples through everything we do.

The truth is that we don’t know what the future holds, but one thing is clear: seasons shift, work ebbs and flows, but our commitment to craft, to quality and to doing things right never changes.

I wanted to share something with you—not as a big announcement, but as a quiet opportunity. A few customers recently reached out, asking if we could source a particular leather: a deep, rich burgundy latigo as shown in the photos above. Similar to our black latigo leather, it is striking yet understated, with a classic feel that only gets better with time. The catch? It’s only available by the full hide, a significant investment for our small shop.

Before making that commitment, I wanted to gauge interest—to see if this is something others would love as much as I do. If this speaks to you, there are a few ways you can let me know:

Because nothing good goes to waste: our Cheep Cheep (aka “Cheapie”) Tags are a limited stash of solid brass tags we’ll be making available tomorrow.
Made from 20-gauge solid brass (lighter than our usual 14-gauge tags), these tags were part of our original product testing for rivet-on tags, but just weren’t quite up to our high standards and didn’t make our final cut. Rather than let them go to waste, we’re offering them at a “cheep, cheep” price. 🐥

Limited quantities will be available starting January 31—because we believe in using what’s still good, not tossing it aside. These Cheapie Tags will be deeply engraved, salt-water safe, ready for adventure, and available for collars 3/4”-width and greater.

In addition to our Cheepie tags, tomorrow we are also are introducing:

🔹 Leather Training Tabs – For quick, reliable handling during off-leash work.
🔹 Backup Safety Links – Because prong collars should never be a single point of failure.
