Of course with recent news of Tim Curry passing, this event must go on and be bigger and better than ever in his honor! This is my fifth and final year showing The Rocky Horror picture Show at Penguin City - Youngstown, OH and I know there are so many events happening so I hope you can make it! We are welcoming back Weird Paul Petroskey as our very special guest performing on stage in the tap room at 7:30 with new Youngstown band called “With No Chance” opening at 6:30. Thankful Thursday is here once again and today I absolutely have to say thank you to The Glenn and Jean Harnett Private Charitable Foundation!

Running this Rescue completely by myself has been no easy task… I am also my own Grant Writer unfortunately. I’m not very good at it but the folks over at the Harnett Foundation believe in what I do and have helped me pay some of these Vet bills over the years. Without them, the newest addition to the ranch, these baby bunnies, would have to rely solely on Fundraisers and Donations to get the vetting they need when they grow up. The Harnett Foundation grant helps offset some of those costs and I am forever grateful 🖤🐾

The moment everyone has been waiting for and dozens of people didn’t actually wait for- Louie is officially available for adoption. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST BEFORE APPLYING! 📣 I DO NOT, I repeat- DO NOT NEED ADVICE. I AM NOT GIVING HIM TO ANOTHER RESCUE. I AM ADOPTING HIM OUT TO HIS FOREVER HOME. I have worked with him long enough to understand his needs and I am competent enough to handle finding him the perfect home and yes- I am asking a large adoption fee because I have done my research and bird rescues ask for fees. Why can’t I?!?

Allll the folks who messaged me “I’ll take him” before we actually knew his name, before he had been to the vet and his beak was trimmed- it really shows how many people do no respect animals. We live in a “I want it now” mentality and this post is actually giving me anxiety to even make. I have grown very fond of Louie but I run an entire rescue. By myself. I’ve only had one volunteer help clean bunnies this week- I still have 7 other buildings that need my attention. I simply do not have the extra time he needs and I am very aware that he is still going through the loss of his owner that he knew for 28 years. 🩶 Good news: he doesn’t make a sound in the morning until he hears me. I cover his cage at night because he actually likes it. He lowers his head for pets and has never “bit me.”
📣 Louie does not step up. He will bite if you try to grab him, force him out of the cage or off his perch. Once he is out of his cage, he will not go back in. I am looking for a bird person with this availability to allow him to be out whenever wants. My life and plants and house bunnies can’t not have a Louie pooping on them and climbing all over the house. He does NOT use a perch and anything you hold to try to get him to step up, he views as a threat- this does not mean he won’t learn, just not yet.
📣 Louie starts to scream like an alarm around 5-7pm
📣 He refuses to eat the $57 dr Harvey food. He has eaten only junk seed for 28 years. He throws everything he liked last week in the floor because this week he only wants sunflower seeds. Habits are hard to break.
📣 He was vetted by Barbarton Dr Riggs. You MUST have an exotic vet.
