Since the online raffle idea for this month wasn’t as successful as I hoped- we are going to try $5 Fridays again! I was attempting to take a month off from sitting at fundraising tables and spend more weekends at the rescue finishing up projects as we head into winter. I need to generate funds each month and I guess trying to get creative didn’t work… so it’s back to the fundraisers next weekend! Also- here are just a handful of critters available for adoption at the Ranch that I am currently accepting applications for! deep clean day! I included a photo of how much p**p two create daily. I clean p**p everyday-but once a week, I completely take out all the bedding, huts, hammocks and switch them out with clean ones. During this time, they get free run of the bedroom. get along and are a bonded pair- they enjoy their and attempt to torment their old cage mate (Mouse, who is seen in the first photo) Mouse then gets his turn to run like a maniac while I clean his cage and lock up the bullies. Like most animals, they do like having a friend, however- sometimes, no matter what the internet says, they just want to be a single critter. It’s important to know when two or more pets should be separated for their health and safety. Mouse was getting beaten up pretty badly but the previous owner kept a group of them together regardless of them fighting… Although I posted the new cage wheel in my stories, it’s still important for these critters to have time outside of their cage. Their dust bath does just that- bathes them and all surrounding surfaces in dust! They also love to leave a trail of tiny rice-like p**ps everywhere they go! You may already know these things but for those of you thinking you may want one as a pet and don’t know these things, That’s what I’m here for 🩶🖤 Mouse is pending adoption by my vet staff due to his current rough condition. Jessica & Roger Rabbit are still available for adoption! Although they did not star in the 1988 film They do love each other just as much! They are inseparable. Roger is absolutely smitten over Jessica- They are fully vetted. They are litter trained. They like the graze on their hay and pellets throughout the day. They are fun to watch and have the cutest personalities. They love attention, they love being pet, but not so much being picked up. I can hold them, they just would rather be safe in the ground… they come with their hutch because it’s their safe space but this is not what they live in! They are use to a large xpen free roam area as well and can go in and out of their hutch whenever they want. This couple is absolutely perfect. Say Wheeeeeek to Bed Head! This little 7 month old cutie loves to talk. He was purchased a few months ago from a pet store but wasn’t what the family had time for after all… since pet stores don’t take returns- they were desperate to find a rescue to help. Again, although I am sad that another unwanted pet has to come here, I am thankful they reached out instead of giving them to any random person on fb that says “I’ll take it!” This is why I am here! I help when I can but I also remind future adopters that every animal is a commitment. Every animal p**ps, chews, over eats and makes a mess in the long run. Pet stores and Fleamarket’s aren’t showing you the amount of p**p that they make… they are still not educating folks on how to care for them… or how they should technically have a friend -but since this family only bought one, this guy needs more interaction and time hanging out with his human. That’s where I come in. I don’t sugarcoat anything. I also don’t just want to find these critters a home to collect the silly little adopt fee and add it to my total for the year. This guinea pig is an “Abyssinian” which cost $50- 75 at the pet store right now (also probably why they bought only one). My adoption fee is $25 which doesn’t even cover the hay or new food I had to buy when I took him in. Rebel Rescue Ranch is not about making money or “flipping” pets. This crazy dude has been with me for over a wheeeeek so that I could learn his personality. His name was Mr Nibbles but he doesn’t bite or nibble at all- he has personality and makes the cutest noises, he now takes treats from my hand, makes a mess every day and does zoomies around his cage with excitement but still doesn’t understand being held- he will get there with more socializing. I think he is officially ready to be adopted by someone that wants a best buddy. I know I write paragraphs but it’s important to know these things! Rescue is tough… Life is hard… but gosh, it sure is beautiful. I am thankful everyday to be able to do any of this. I am thankful for all of my friends, family and followers helping make this possible. As always, even though I am smaller than most, I still struggle daily. No one gets paid to be here. I have a small but mighty group of volunteers who have truly changed my life and the lives of these critters. The animals get EVERY donation. EVERY dollar. But… they eat a lot… one bag of treats lasts a few minutes here. As garden season comes to an end, the fresh produce bills go up and as much as I tried to stock up on supplies, we still go bag to bag here. Just by sharing, commenting or liking this post- it helps stay relevant in the rotation. You never know who is looking to adopt or able to donate even in these rough times. I have the absolute pleasure of getting to introduce the best news I’ve had in a very long time! Our new partnership with “Animal Care and Veterinary Science through the Four Cities Compact at Copley High School” has been an absolute blessing to This amazing classroom program learns the importance of rescue, spaying and neutering, have a hands on experience with animals AND help find homes for critters in need. They gladly took on ELEVEN animals from the Ranch into their classroom! The six bunnies needed more socializing in order to get adopted…these particular bunnies wanted nothing to do with me or my volunteers when we attempted to touch/pet them. After only one week- the students are able to hold them, trim nails, check heart beats, ears, teeth and groom them! I can’t begin to express how important these types of programs are for our community, our future as a rescue and for the animals! I am beyond grateful for this partnership and look forward to growing, expanding and working with them in years to come! Although many of the students already want to adopt the current classroom pets, I am still looking for guinea pig loving families to adopt a single or pair of males.
