Time for the Baseline Personalities Update for the Angel-Yogi MH litter!
Please keep in mind that the following traits are based on observations made in a controlled environment. These traits may change as the puppies grow and have new experiences in new/different environments.
Black Males:
Checkers – Mr. Checkers is an absolute sweetheart! He is very affectionate, curious, interactive and people focused. Checkers loves to play and has a super spunky side! Checkers is the puppy that has gone through a big change. Checkers initially was a puppy that would get picked on by his siblings and was very low in the litter hierarchy. Once he turned 5 weeks old, he figured out how to stand up for himself and has since moved up to being one of the top puppies in the litter. Checkers doesn’t pick on any one, but he will not allow anyone to pick on him. He will also now actively play with the other puppies, where he used to prefer playing alone or with people. Checkers tends to be a think first kind of puppy. He is extremely smart and has shown problem solving tendencies. Checkers seems to equally enjoy all types of toys, but things that make noise are his favorite right now. Checkers is a middle energy puppy. He tends to play really hard in bursts and goes out of his way to snuggle and get attention from people in between play bursts. Checkers loves to climb in my lap, lay his head on my legs or cuddle his body next to my legs when he wants to sleep. He is very thickly built and I suspect will be a tank! C He was born with toes that slightly curl inward. He has never shown any indicators of pain/discomfort with them, but I am having an xray taken on 2/6 to look at the internal structure and will disclose any/all findings with potential home prior to placement.
Frost – Mr. Frost is and always has been one of the top go-getters of the litter! He was the first puppy to climb out of the box and has consistently been one of the leaders of the litter. He is very curious, outgoing and interactive. Frost absolutely loves people as well as interactive play. He tends to be a jump right in kind of puppy and has no problem going after anything that he wants. Frost has a very strong natural carry and absolutely loves all types of wings and various types of toys. He is one of the higher energy puppies of the litter and definitely has plenty of drive. He also has a very sweet affectionate side and will roll himself over for tummy rubs and cuddles once he starts to get tired. I definitely think this beautiful boy will do best with some sort of job where he will also get to be a home companion.
Lucky – Mr. Lucky is a big ol’ boy that just makes me laugh. He is a puppy that likes to be right in the middle of everything, not necessarily participating, but still in the middle. Sometimes he gets excited and will get the zoomies and other times he acts blasé. Lucky is very observant and seems to be aware of whatever is going on around him and he chooses what he wants to participate in. He is very confident and will go after anything that he wants. He seems to equally enjoy the wings and various toys. He comes in for attention, but also has times where he likes to stick by himself. Lucky makes me laugh, because he can act indifferent, but is so easily enticed to play. He definitely enjoys a good hug and cuddle, but he is not generally an in-your-face kind of puppy. Lucky has made it tricky to guage his energy level. Some days he is just bursting with energy and has to run. He will play very hard and still be playing when the others have stopped. Then other times, he will be so chill and just play in bursts with lounging time between. When looking at the overall energy, I would say he is less than Frost, but higher than Checkers and Patriot. Lucky does have a strong natural carry and tends to strut around with his trophies. He just has some silly antics that are hard to describe. I guarantee if you see him, you will know what I am talking about.
Patriot – Mr. Patriot is the sweetest boy that absolutely loves people! Patriot is the kind of puppy that will go well out if his way to be with or interact with people. He enjoys running and playing with his siblings, but will consistently check in with people on his own. Patriot is one of the middle to lower energy puppies of the litter, but he still has plenty of energy and plays hard. Patriot is more of a jump right in kind of boy, but will occasionally think first. He is definitely a smart boy and has shown problem solving tendencies on multiple occasions. This has usually been when he is trying to keep his toy or wing from littermates. Patriot has also brought me things automatically as well. Patriot tends to be aware of what is going on around him and enjoys watching TV. Nice natural on/off to this boy. Patriot plays well with his siblings as well as on his own. Patriot is the kind of puppy that I could easily see go many different directions. He is just loaded with so much potential and definitely already has a desire to please!
Chocolate Males:
Blaze – Mr. Blaze is a big beautiful dark chocolate boy that likes to keep me guessing. I say that because you just never know what kind of antics he will be up too each day. He is a goof ball! That being said, Blaze can be very serious about his wings and toys. He loves to get after them! Blaze has a very strong natural carry and seems to equally enjoy the wings and various toys. He loves people, but tends to wait until the other puppies are off doing something else, before he will come in for attention. Blaze is definitely a watcher of what-ever is going around him. He likes to place himself where he can see what the others are doing as well as be aware of what is around him. He is a confident and smart boy! Blaze seems to have a very nice natural on/off to him already. He plays hard, but it is a 50/50 on if he will sit and observe before going off to play even when fresh with energy. He just has a nice chill side to him, but also plenty of drive. Blaze tends to be a little more think first than just jump right in. He is not fearful in anyway. Blaze is super sweet and loves getting attention, but is like I said, he tends to prefer it more one-on-one or just not having to vie for attention with his siblings. Blaze is the kind of puppy that will make an outstanding hunting dog, but also companion when not working.
Bumble – Mr. Bumble is the smallest of the males, but you can’t tell by how he acts. Bumble is going to do whatever he can to get what he is after. That could be wings or toys, food or people. He is such a sweet boy and his enthusiasm is palpable. Bumble loves people and will go well out if his way to interact and get attention. He has brought me his toys/wings on multiple occasions. He likes to check in on his own and is an all-around happy boy. Bumble does tend to be a think first kind of puppy, but not in a fearful way. You can see him processing things. He is curious and has no problem venturing off to explore a new area on his own or following after others that are leading the way. Bumble is a puppy that just seems to take everything in stride. He plays hard and chills out. I would say middle energy, maybe on the higher side. He tends to take breaks during play sessions but it is not always to rest. Sometimes he likes to just take in what is going on around him. He does play well alone as well as with other. Bumble is very sweet and definitely enjoys a good cuddle session.
Zombie – Mr. Zombie is the biggest puppy of the litter! He keeps just edging out Blaze and Lucky by a couple of ounces. He is an absolute hoot that definitely inherited his daddy’s hilarious, sociable personality! He is another you just cannot help but smile or laugh at. He goes out of his way to get attention and interact. Zombie loves everyone and anything. He has an awesome natural carry and equally enjoys the wings and toys. He tends to jump right in when faced with something new or a big obstacle. Zombie is the highest drive of the chocolate males and pretty high on the energy scale of the litter. He does take some breaks, but not nearly as much as the others. Zombie tends to play until he crashes and tends to be one of the first to play and last to stop. When he does take breaks, usually it is to get some attention. He loves people and will come and sit in front of me to ask for attention. Sometimes he can be in your face, but often he will be more respectful about it.
Black Female – Miss Red: This beautiful girl is very nicely balanced all around. She tends be more of a jump right in kind of girl, but still will think if faced with something really big or challenging. She is not fearful about anything and is happy to lead and follow the other puppies. Miss Red loves the various wings and toys equally. She is super sweet and loves to get attention. She is one that likes to check in first before going off to play and will check in multiple times during a play session all on her own. Miss Red is confident and tends to have a wagging tail most of the time. She is very sweet and affectionate. She settles in when being held and really enjoys her cuddle time. Miss Red seems to have a very nice natural on/off to her already. I say that because she doesn’t have to be tired out to take a break and will sit and watch the others (usually from my lap) during her breaks from playing. She is definitely middle energy with plenty of drive. The fact she is beautiful too is just a bonus!
Chocolate Females:
Green – Miss Green is absolutely adorable and makes me laugh all the time. I’ll admit I call her a little potato! She is so thickly put together and has shorter legs at the moment. It helps that she likes to roll herself over for pets and tummy rubs. She was the first ever puppy (from any BDL litter) that rolled herself over while on the couch and I was trying to take solo photos at just before 3 weeks. She has a had a big personality right from the start. She is so silly, playful and affectionate. Even though Miss Green is currently a little shorter legged, she is still pretty agile and sure footed. Miss Green gets after those wings and toys! She has a tenacious side and just doesn’t give up when any puppy is trying to take her object or when she wants something. She is a confident little girl and tends to be more of a jump right in kind of puppy. Miss Green is a mid to high energy puppy with a tail that just doesn’t stop wagging. I think she will get more proportionate as she grows up as I have seen many Yogi pups with builds like hers that end up being very athletic. I think she will be an absolute stunner as an adult too!
Pink – Miss Pink is the puppy that reminds me so much of her mama and is all about the lovies. Miss Pink must say hi before she goes off to play. She has always had a very strong natural carry and loves all wings and toys. She tends to be a nice balance between think first or jump right in. I have seen her to both when faced with new obstacles, toys and places. Miss Pink has also shown more of a thinking side when she is observing the others. I swear she is processing what she wants to do. Miss Pink is very people focused and has awesome eye contact. She will literally sit and look at me when I am talking to her and do the head tilt. Miss Pink is the female puppy of the litter that has consistently gone well out of her way to find and interact with people. She is very lovey and prefers to sleep in my lap whenever given the opportunity. She is one of the lower energy puppies of the entire litter, even though she does play very hard in bursts. It is just not for as long and she tends to take more breaks than the others. Definitely safe to say she has a very nice natural on/off to her as well.
Purple – Miss Purple is definitely a puppy with a can-do type of attitude! If she wants it, she will get it! She is very curious, smart and a problem solver. Miss Purple is the smallest puppy of the litter (not a runt, just a little smaller than the other females). She has a finer build to her and she loves to climb into, onto and around things. She is very agile, and she enjoys exploring. Miss Purple loves the wobble disc and will not only play in it but likes to fall asleep in it as well after she is all played out. Purple is little more of a think first puppy, but often just jumps right in too. You can see her figuring things out. She definitely loves the wings and all kinds of toys. Miss Purple is confident playing with other puppies, with people and on her own. She is higher energy than the other females, but she still takes breaks. Sometimes she likes to place herself where she can watch what the others are doing and other times she wants to get attention while she rests. Miss Purple is very observant and has noticed multiple things that the other puppies overlook. I have a feeling that this little girl is going places. She has the desire and intelligence for it, all the while still being a wonderful companion too!
