Beginning January 1, 2027, Farmhouse Groom & Board will no longer be able to offer Saturday grooming appointments.

For those who may not realize it, Farmhouse is currently a one-person operation. I groom 6 days a week minimum, and because we offer boarding seven days a week, I’m also caring for, bathing, and tending to our boarding guests on Sunday’s as well. While I absolutely love what I do, I’ve realized it’s important to create a little more balance so I can continue providing the quality care your pets deserve while also making time for my family.

This change wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one I feel is necessary for this season of life and business. My hope is that as Farmhouse continues to grow, I may eventually be able to bring on additional help and expand availability again in the future 🙏.

We will continue offering weekday grooming appointments and boarding services throughout the week and weekends.

If my weekday schedule doesn’t work for your family, I’m always happy to recommend other wonderful groomers in our area, including Parks Pooch Parlor in Bellevue, The Dapper Dog Grooming Salon in Monroeville, & Paws & Petals - Dog Grooming by Jocelyn (opening in October) in Bellevue/Perkins Twp. These three businesses have fantastic groomers who genuinely care about their clients and pets.

As a reminder, we are currently ONLY able to accept new clients for:
🐾 Short-haired bath dogs
🐾 Nail trim appointments
🐾 Boarding services
🐾 Cat baths

At this time, we are no longer accepting new haircut/full-groom clients, as my schedule is already very full & pushed out 5-6 weeks. I want to make sure I can continue providing timely appointments and quality care for my existing clients rather than overextending myself.

There are still a limited number of Saturday grooming appointments available throughout the remainder of 2026, but they are filling quickly.

Thank you all for your understanding, support, and loyalty over the years. I am incredibly blessed to do what I love every day, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you for supporting my small business.

The ticks this year in Ohio are NO JOKE 😫 I have been seeing more ticks on dogs already this season than I have in previous years all together, especially deer ticks and dog ticks here in Northern Ohio.

And just a reminder:
Not all ticks carry Lyme disease… BUT ticks are how Lyme disease is spread. Deer ticks are one of the biggest culprits.

Lyme disease in dogs can cause:
🐶 Limping
🐶 Joint pain/swelling
🐶 Fever
🐶 Lethargy
🐶 Loss of appetite
🐶 And in severe cases, kidney complications

If you find a tick:
✔️ Use tweezers or a tick remover
✔️ Grab as close to the skin as possible
✔️ Pull straight out slowly
✔️ Do NOT twist, burn, smother in Vaseline, or squeeze the body
✔️ Put the tick in rubbing alcohol to make sure it’s dead
And please always check your babies after being outside, especially ears, under collars, armpits, between toes, and around the tail area.

A few natural prevention tips:
🌿 Keep grass trimmed
🌿 Clear brush and leaves
🌿 Food-grade diatomaceous earth can sometimes help around yards/pet areas when used properly (sprinkle it closely to the ground, and do not inhale the dust)
🌿 Keep pets on vet-recommended flea/tick prevention

Fun little nature fact before I stop talking about ticks for the night 😂👇

🐔 Chickens LOVE eating ticks.
🦝 Opossums are basically tiny tick-vacuum cleaners and can eat thousands of ticks in a season.
🦇 Bats love eating them too!

🎉 Happy Friyayyyy 🎉

Over the past several months, we’ve experienced ongoing issues with our current software system, DaySmart Pet. Many clients have had trouble with online booking, boarding reservations, and text reminders not sending properly, schedules aren’t able to be printed out and reports are not reporting properly. After spending the last month researching different options, we have decided to transition Farmhouse Groom & Board over to Paw Partner software.

Our hope is that this new system will create a smoother, more user-friendly experience for everyone, especially for those who prefer the convenience of online booking for both grooming and boarding.

The new system is NOT live yet. The transition process will take about 2–4 weeks while everything is moved over and while I learn the new software myself. I will continue posting updates along the way so there are no surprises. Boy do I hate surprises 🥴

🚨 A few important notes:
• Existing appointments and client information will transfer over. (You may experience extra confirmation and reminder alerts along with this.)
• Vaccine records do not automatically transfer, so we will securely print and file those manually. (Vaccine records will still need to be resubmitted to us each time the vaccines are updated at your pet’s yearly wellness appointment.)
• Some online forms and paperwork will need to be completed again once the new system launches. I sincerely apologize for that inconvenience, but the new forms should be much quicker and easier to complete.

As our boarding services continue to grow, there will also be a few small policy updates regarding boarding drop-off and pick-up hours. Since we are a home-based business and I’m currently grooming solo while also balancing family life, these updates will help keep things running smoothly for everyone. ❤️

During the final transition between systems, online booking will temporarily be shut down for approximately 48-72 hours while everything is fully transferred over. I will give everyone plenty of notice beforehand.

Once the new system is ready, booking will primarily be app-based and I’ll post simple instructions and videos to help everyone through the process. And please don’t worry, if technology isn’t your thing, you can absolutely still call or message me directly and I’ll gladly help schedule appointments for you.

Just a little peek into one of my favorite hobbies… my bees 🐝💛

Most people know bees for their delicious honey, but they do SOOooo much more than that!! Honey is naturally antibacterial and great for healing skin, propolis (the “glue” from the hive) has amazing healing properties, and even bee venom is being studied for wellness benefits in certain people. I actually sting myself and my husband Matthew. When he was sick with cancer, I took classes for apitherapy. Before he had his cancer treatment, I was stinging him multiple times a day every single day and when we went back for scans we were told his tumor actually decreased in size slightly. There’s also been other people that had documented that their cancerous tumors completely have been healed from bee venom along with others saying their arthritis & Lyme disease had been healed. Bees are honestly some of the most fascinating little creatures on this planet.

Fun fact: a queen bee mates only ONE time in her life, and after that she can lay around 1,500–2,000 eggs PER DAY for years. 🤯 The male drone sadly dies immediately after mating, and the queen can live several years while continuing to build and grow the colony. Nature is wild!!

And of course… without bees, we wouldn’t have most of the crops and flowers we enjoy every day. They truly help keep our world alive through pollination. 🌼🐝

Also — please never swat or kill a honeybee if you can avoid it. Honeybees are generally very gentle when left alone, and every bee matters. 🐝

Little safety note from us here at Farmhouse Groom & Board: while our bees are not around our clients, or client pets, if anyone visiting our property ever had an unexpected allergic reaction, we do keep an EpiPen on hand for emergencies.
