🍂 Fall Pet Safety Reminder! 🍁
As the leaves have changed, remember a few fall hazards to keep pets safe:
⚠️ Keep candy (especially chocolate & sugar-free treats) out of reach.
⚠️ Watch for antifreeze spills — it’s highly toxic to pets.
⚠️ Be cautious with seasonal decorations and pet clothing.

A little extra awareness goes a long way in keeping our furry family members healthy this season! 💛🐕🐾

For those of you wondering how Prim and Leo are doing, we are excited to post an update and confirm they are still deeply in love. ❤️

These two were a bit shy, except with each other. Leo was in love with Prim at first sight and even decided to move on from another lady cat who he was going steady with. Their adopters fell just as deeply with this pair and took a chance on these aloof cuties. We knew instantly Leo and Prim had to be with each other furever and we are so glad these wonderful adopters realized that and made that possible. The outcome has made all of our hearts skip a beat.

The new pet pawrents adore these two, and so do Prim and Leo's grandpawrents!

Their mama said, "They’re truly a pairing!
Prim took a lil longer to warm up, but I think with Leo being comfortable, it made her feel more at home. They play together all the time, have late night 2am zoomies, lots of snuggles on the couch. It sure took them some time to get to cuddle up with, but seeing their growth and progress with just feeling more at home makes my heart so happy!"

Our hearts are full knowing they are together and loved. We hope this inspires others to adopt cats who might need more TLC, but who will bring just as much joy and fulfillment! 😻❤️

Due to unexpected health challenges requiring my sister to move to assisted living, we are seeking a loving home for her bonded pair of cats, Merlin and Jinx. This brother-sister duo was adopted from Antrim County Animal Control over three years ago and were born on Christmas Day 2021. My sister specifically chose two cats so they could be companions for each other, and they have formed a deep bond—they play together daily (complete with adorable zoomies and chase sessions), frequently cuddle with one another, and have been wonderful emotional support during my sister’s illness. Both are indoor cats, spayed/neutered, with all their claws, and are completely current on vaccinations with full medical records available. Merlin is the affectionate lap cat who could spend hours being petted and is the more outgoing of the pair, while Jinx is the playful acrobat who loves climbing and chasing feather toys. They eat Purina Pro Plan Plus dry food with a small daily Friskies wet food treat, and use PetSafe ScoopFree crystal litter systems. While initially reserved around strangers, they warm up to familiar faces, and Merlin will actively seek attention once comfortable. They’re easygoing, easy to live with, love climbing adventures (they go wild for step ladders), and interestingly, have never attempted to dash outside even when doors are open. They would thrive best in a home where they can stay together and continue their close companionship.

Please support Queenie's Law and share! 🐾

UPDATE: Good work, advocates. Queenie's Law passed the House Regulatory Reform Committee today! Now the BIG fight begins in the full House. Watch your feed or sign-up for our newsletter on www.michiganpet.org to receive legislative action alerts. Your voice will be needed again! Thank you!

RENEWED ACTION ALERT: Queenie's Law needs more voices to tell the Michigan House Regulatory Reform Committee to vote YES on HB 4254.

Please share this far and wide. The opposition, including Wayne State University's board of regents, is fighting hard to prevent Queenie's Law from passing. We need more voices to continue to contact representatives of the House Regulatory Reform committee before this week's vote.

Dogs in Michigan need your voice and more voices now.

Queenie’s Law, HB 4254, received a hearing on Thursday, October 23 in the House Regulatory Reform committee. Many advocates gave stirring, compelling testimony, but the committee has yet to vote. The opposition is very powerful and is fighting very hard to prevent Queenie's Law from passing.

HB 4254 will prohibit canine experiments at publicly funded Michigan institutions. Outlawing painful dog experiments, funded by Michigan taxpayers, has been a key animal welfare issue in our state for a long time.

We need every organization and every voter in Michigan to show strong support.
