After spending over a month in our care waiting for his perfect match, Luca was recently adopted and already seems to be doing great:
"When we got home, he investigated the whole house. Then we went outside for a couple of leash laps around the house, lots of sniffing and peeing on everything. Then he found my path out to the ski lift and dragged me out, ending up going up the trail a little, then taking a trail over to the base lodge, then back through the neighborhood and home.
That’s a picture of him napping on the couch around 6:30ish, but at 8 PM he was wide awake and the watermelon came out, so I decided we should hit the yard. Well, that turned into a 20 minute jog through the neighborhood over to the base lodge and weaved our way back home. I’m giving him a lot of leeway on the leash. Lots of smells and sounds in the mountains have him super stimulated, and that tail is fluffed and wagging.
The only downside so far is I didn’t sleep that well because, that’s right, Luca is a major bed hog dog. Last night, I figured he’d sleep on the couch or downstairs, but when I headed upstairs, Luca was in tow. I turned on my alarm, and when I turned around, there he was in the middle of the bed with a “that’s right” look on his face. And let me tell you, trying to move a 70 pound Luca over wasn’t easy. Not only was he not moving, but trying to push him made him think it was a game. Anyway, he finally gave me some room. Thank you, Luca!!!
So all seems to be well so far. He seems to be adapting well. He’s staying close to my side. He’s a great dog, for sure. Luca thanks you and the staff for all you’ve done for him, and thanks again for everything!!!"
