Our Cat Care Coordinator doesn't act right 'round puppies 😒

It's fine, she didn't eat it.

(It's not our puppy, it's a staffer's bottle baby pup that has to come to work with her because, I mean, LOOK AT IT! So don't ask us if you can adopt it. Or eat it. Not our call.)

Mona has some very important cat business she is on her way to do.

And no, you may not have her toy.

Mona is one of our Feline Leukemia kitties - and that should NOT make you panic!

Feline Leukemia is transmissible between cats (and cats only); and, for cats who have active infections, it does shorten their lifespan to just a few years.

BUT!

FeLV kitties are otherwise quite healthy, and don't require any additional veterinary care!

FeLV kitties CAN live with non-FeLV kitties, as long as the other kitties have had their FeLV vaccines!

FeLV is kinda the virus of love, because transmission requires sustained, close contact with other cats (e.g. mutual grooming). So FeLV kitties are lovers 🥹

Don't pass up our FeLV kitties, because you'll miss some really wonderful pets if you do ❤

There is no better way to spend a summer day than getting slobbered on by a doggie 🥹❤

We are open today and tomorrow from 11am-5pm, and Sunday from 12-5pm for you to:
- Adopt a dog who can give kisses to you forever!
- Take a dog out for a field trip who can give kisses to you for the afternoon!
- Donate some hot dogs and wet dog food to us so that their breath is especially pungent when they find a face to kiss!

Looking for delicious food, great beer, and even better company? Perhaps a new best friend? 💓

Join us this Saturday at the MadTree Taproom in Oakley from 12 to 3, where we’re bringing along some seriously adorable and very adoptable pups who are ready to meet their people 🐶

We got a call from a partner vet clinic that one of their clients had a dog with parvo, and they couldn't afford the treatment. :(

We were about to close for the day. We had just had our shelter veterinarian move across the country, so our medical team was short-staffed. A not-so-small part of us just wished we hadn't picked up that particular call!

But there is one thing this team does better than any other, and that is problem-solve in even the most complicated situations.

And this situation got complicated! Because it wasn't just one dog with parvo - it was 7 dogs with parvo. And another 3 dogs exposed to those 7 dogs. And none of those 10 dogs were vaccinated. Or fixed.

We'll make a looonggg story short, and skip to the good part:
- The original doggie got treated and went back to his loving home. He is scheduled to be fixed in with us in July, along with his dad!

1. To remind you that our vaccine clinic is tomorrow from 11am-1pm, and we offer very cheap (and even some free!) vaccines, microchips, and preventatives.

A VERY IMPORTANT reminder from Reece.

Doggie field trips* are available on Thursdays from 11am-3pm!

Enrichment points for doggies are notoriously low on Thursdays, because of our weird hours. Our doggos do NOT like to see Thursdays coming.

Reece is trying to keep a brave smile on his face, as you can see, but he's vewwy worried he and his friends won't get out today.

If you have an hour or two to take a dog for a walk through Sycamore park, a drive through Starbucks for a pup cup, a romp in your back yard, a drive through the country side, a stop for some chicken nuggies, PLEASE come grab a pup friend!

*Appointments are never necessary for dog field trips - dogs available for a fun day out with you any time we're open! You do not need to be a prior volunteer or have any training to get a doggie for a field trip.
