What I fear, I create.

It’s okay to play out what ifs, but you need to play out the entire scenario!!!

📢 Call out your fears!!! 📢

What are you scared of???

Well, Miss Nala is periodically scared of everything and anything! It’s more a flight 🤺or fight ✈️ response…and for the most part, she chooses flight

✈️ ✈️ ✈️

So I’m trying to give her more life experiences to help her work through the scary situations vs flee them. The more confident she gets, the calmer she is. This is NOT an overnight thing! Friends, this horse has been this way for years…some of the habits we’ve created in ourselves have been life long…it will take a bit to exchange those habits that no longer serve us to helpful habits and reactions.

Patience

Persistence

Perseverance

It won’t be easy, but it will be so worth it! 😉

"Think about controlling the feet and shifting the weight. If you get the horse to move his weight, he's got to shift his feet - but I bet he doesn't move his feet first. He shifts his weight, then moves his feet. He prepares his position and then there's a transition. Don't try to get the horse to go without getting it ready."

Let’s talk about DELIBERATE practice!I've been horse crazy since I received a pony for my 4th birthday! Now as an adult, I am well aware of DELIBERATE practice vs just practice. This has hit home for me big time as I started working out on a regular basis vs just cardio exercise. Exercising is much different when you pick exact muscles & joints to work!Every day I’m working on my craft…mentally and physically! I’m researching…from ways to understand why we do things and how to correct and change habits…to increasing my knowledge in bodywork, health and fitness for my horses…to studying great horsemen and women. 🎥 Courtney absolutely CRUSHING IT during last night’s tune up session at Monday Tune Ups at Oasis Equestrian Center ! I’ll post her previous cruise through where she crashed a couple barrels…video review during the session showed her where her hands were going that was causing the crash

Consulting: providing professional or expert advice

An expert is generally defined as someone with comprehensive and authoritative knowledge in a specific field, demonstrating both deep understanding and practical skills.

Expertise is typically acquired through a combination of formal education, practical experience, and deliberate practice, leading to the development of a well-organized knowledge base and the ability to apply it effectively in various situations.

So what makes ME an expert? Well, I'm a student for life; so I'm constantly learning and researching any ways to improve. While I have a hard time labeling myself as an expert, I do fit Webster’s definition of it as it pertains specifically to the services I offer 😉

I love sharing my passion with people that want to level up!

From the weekend warrior and fun and fair goers to the rodeo runners! Helping riders pick their very 1st horse to those level uppers looking for their next rodeo champion! I do limit the amount of people I consult and virtual coach to make sure I can give 100% to each student and client.

The Bible mentions horses approximately 188 times.

Why Are Horses So Important in the Bible?

Horses in Scripture symbolize more than just speed or strength — they represent both the power of man and the sovereignty of God in judgment and salvation.

In Job 39:19-25, God describes the horse’s might as part of His divine creation — fearless, strong, and full of purpose.

✝️ 📖 🏇 ✝️ 📖 🏇

Horses have a way of humbling you. Anyone who’s worked with them knows — their strength is undeniable, but so is their sensitivity, loyalty, and ability to mirror our own emotions. They remind us that control is not dominance, and real leadership starts with humility.

Horses are a reminder:
true power belongs to God.

Incredibly proud of this pair! 🥹

Literally happy tears when I got the message 😭

Katie Dahlberg bought Rona just over a month ago. Rona had been consigned with me by her previous owner Tiffany Hove. I had mentioned to Tiffany I had a perfect home for Rona, but before Katie could even consider it…we got a deposit to hold Rona for another buyer…the other buyer passed and I told Katie she’s gotta get down here and try Rona like, yesterday!!! lol!

I’ve been working with Katie for probably 15ish years now…and Tiffany for at least 3. I know these ladies and their horses….and feel very blessed on all accounts! Rona wasn’t a perfect fit for Tiffany, but she fits Katie fantastic!

I know I can speak for both Tiffany and myself when we say how happy we are for this team! Great job Katie! This is just the beginning 🤩

Skipper is owned by Julie Jones Johnsonnes Johnson. I’ve had the pleasure of hauling and competing on him. My niece, Josie, quickly took over the reins and has smoked 1D runs in 200+ entry events. They’ve decided to expand their breeding program and sell Skipper at the prime of his life.

Between stimulus and response, there is a space.

In that space is our power to choose our response.

In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

I enjoy working with such a variety in of horses and humans. Some of them benefit from a much longer pause than others. Too long of a pause can loose the momentum and train of thought for some.

Read your horse, listen to it. You can have a game plan but if your horse isn’t on the same page, you need to pause and pivot.

Don’t over do it!
A common mistake that I see made and I used to make quite often is doing too much on your horse. Not having adequate releases and time for them to soak on the topic being taught.

Take the extra time and put bigger pauses in your training sessions. Always find a place where they want more and then quit. If you go to far you’ll know because it’s usually not fun for you or your horse.

Where you quit is far more important than where you start on a horse.

It will save you loads of time when you create a parter that is a team player because you are a good leader. No one likes an unfair boss.

Be a good leader and know when to quit and have them looking for more and you’ll enjoy your horses far more often!

I get the pleasure of legging up Lady again! 🥰

Let’s talk fitness….

🏃‍♀️💪 🏇🏃‍♀️ 💪🏇

I feel like I can have a horse in pretty good shape in 2 months. Like safely run them but not incredibly fit. I’ll start with easy rides for the 1st week. No little circles and minimal stops. Add a little more intensity the next week. More speed variations and longer workouts. By week 3, I’ll start doing drills and pattern work. Add in sprints.

What’s your routine?

Our Story

Tuff Enuf Ranch was founded in 2005, the year Bronson and Jessica were married. Jessica and Bronson had their 1st date on a trail ride where Bronson rode Tuff (Lafavors Tuff Enuf) and Jessica rode Frosty {Hot Rebel Sun}. Both geldings were 3 yr olds at the time. Tuff is an irreplaceable gelding who we have affectionately named our 'ranch' after.

Foundation and well broke horses are very important to us at Tuff Enuf Ranch. We work with horses and riders from every level, from just getting started to proven winners!

Starting under saddle, tune ups, specializing in barrel racing and helping the horse be safe and as handy as you'd like :-) We do a ton of "general riding", making sure the horse is broke and will do any task that is asked of it, without hesitation. Barrel Racing, WSCA Games, Roping, trail riding, tons of natural desensitizing.

We offer horse and pony training, virtual coaching, riding lessons, and always have a nice horse or pony...or two for sale. Training, coaching and sales located near Balsam Lake, WI.
