Laying hens in Iowa!!

UPDATE: Still several thousand left yesterday from the sounds of it. Will edit as soon as I hear numbers. It doesn't let me tag the farmer, but there were people there to help load birds if needed.

Again, they are asking $2.00 to cover costs. $1.00 if you take more than 500. Anyone that raises birds knows this is much less than the hens are worth. They need to be gone by the end of this week.

I WILL BE IN ST PAUL SATURDAY MAY 2ND at the old St. Paul property doing the last clean out before we hand over the keys.
IF YOU HAVE A ROOSTER YOU NEED TO DROP OFF, message me ASAP.

As always, we ask twenty dollars or a bag of layer feed to surrender.
Thanks!

Two of my girls started laying eggs under the back porch steps so my mom had to cut some scrap pieces of stucco lath to block it off. Sidechick is PI**ED 😂

My future probably lmao

‼️Let’s talk about “green p**p” in chickens‼️

I see SO many people panic the second they spot anything green in their flock’s droppings — but not all green p**p is created equal.

👉 THIS is the kind you need to worry about:
(Pic pinned in comments because meta sux)
Thick, slimy, marbled green droppings with a nasty, almost foamy texture (see photo). This isn’t just diet-related—it can be a red flag for coccidiosis, a common and potentially deadly parasitic infection.

💡 What makes it different?
• Not just green—it’s dark + bright green mixed together
• Often mucousy/slimy or bubbly
• May have a strong, foul smell
• Birds may also seem lethargic, fluffed up, or off-feed

🥬 Normal “green p**p” (from grass, veggies, etc.) is usually:
• More uniform in color
• Less slimy
• Still formed (not this swampy mess 😬)

⚠️ If you’re seeing droppings like this:
Don’t wait. Early treatment is key with coccidiosis. Quarantine if needed, keep things clean and dry, and consider treatment options ASAP.

Your chickens rely on you to notice the difference—and catching this early can save lives. 💚🐔

🙋🏻‍♀️ ATTENTION all my teachers!! If I have supplied eggs for your classroom hatch project and you’re needing eggs again this year — comment below please! 💖
My girls are JUST starting to lay again after the move, so I have to ask some of my breeder friends to help with donations this year and we need to get a rough estimate so they can start saving up eggs when the time comes! Thank you!!

P.s. stay tuned!! We are going to start doing Chicken S**t bingo at a few of the local bars up here in Balsam Lake this summer!!
