Bakersfield Boxers & Bullies Rescue A non-profit Boxer and Pit bull Breed rescue in Bakersfield, CA Our main focus is education and helping people KEEP their dogs. We are NOT a shelter.

BBBR IS A 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization dedicated to Boxer and Pit bull breeds in Bakersfield, CA. Training is a priority, rehoming is a last resort. We operate SOLELY on donations and we rely on fosters to help us care for the dogs until a loving, forever home is found. Owners who prefer to rehome their dogs must hold their dog until we find a qualified, loving home. They’ll also need to be avai

lable to meet adopters. If you have found a dog and not sure what to do, we encourage you to always look for the owner first. Have the dog checked for a microchip (we do have a chip reader if you need help with that). There are many Bakersfield Lost and Found pages you can post on. We rarely post found dogs on our page because people wouldn’t come here to look. They’ll be looking at lost and founds pages. If you cannot keep the dog as a foster, then you’ll probably have to take to the appropriate dog shelter. We do not have a facility to take dogs in. We are a rescue but not a shelter. The Bakersfield City Shelter is on Mt. Vernon and the Kern County Animal Shelter is located on Fruitvale Ave. BUT remember that another dog or dogs will likely need to die to make room for the dog you take in. We are in a CRISIS of the overpopulation of unwanted dogs. You may be the only lifeline for that dog, so think about that first. We do help with stray dogs but only if a foster is available or if you can Foster that pup while we get things figured out for it. This will take time. There is no quick turn around for the dogs. Ok guys, I have a vet bill coming up for Poncho. He has a cyst on his eye that needs to be removed because it popped the other day and he had blood in his eyeball! I spared you that picture, but I do have a clean picture of his eye in the comments below. He also has a lump on his leg that I’m going to have removed as well since it’s growing slowly. It’s making people hesitant to adopt him. THAT DOG NEEDS A HOME SO BADLY.

😢😢😢 So many messages from people who have either found a dog they can’t keep, or need to rehome a dog they own. I cannot help ANYONE at this time because the last of the dogs under this rescue are still waiting for their chance at a forever home.

Many rescues are experiencing the same hold on adoptions so it’s vital that you find a way to keep your dogs. We’re in such a terrible crisis with no end in sight.

I do occasionally courtesy post dogs in need of homes and some are successfully adopted. But it’s just me right now and I’m running on empty.

If you would like to help me with adoption events please contact me! I am looking for a small team that can take dogs out of town to adoption events! 🤗

🆘ACTION NEEDED🆘 California is hard enough to live in as a rescuer. No laws to protect animals or end reckless backyard breeding but BY GOLLY they’ll hold rescues accountable! READ THE ATTACHED POST, please contact representatives. There’s enough to keep up on already without another useless requirement. Just ask us for the info, we’ll gladly tell you how many dogs we pull and adopt. If this sh*tty bill gets passed, I will consider closing my rescue down and just help out where I can without a 501c3. I’m not to going bend over any further after the blood, sweat and tears I already pour out. It’s like the evil powers in charge of this earth right now want to kill, steal and destroy everything that moves. Hmmm, imagine that.

This was the size of that tumor on the Betty Booper! It grew so dang fast. But it’s off of her now and she’s doing great!
