Fosters of Peace

Fosters of Peace The fostering journey I started is in memory of my beloved cat, Peace. Here I will be sharing the precious lives of the kitties I am able to help save.

Officially introducing Deku (brown tabby male, foster 202) and Todoroki (gray tabby male, foster 203). I recently binged My Hero Academia and Deku and Todoroki are among my favorite characters. These two boys just gave me these vibes so when I found out their s*x I decided that's what I'd name them.

I just finished bathing them. These poor babies were covered in fleas. SOOO MUCH FLEA POOP/BLOOD came off of them. I know they are going to start feeling so much better now!

Comparison.
Sandy's kittens turned six weeks old on Friday.
The biggest Kittens, Bageera, Taylor and Kat, are all almost 2lb, beautiful chonky babies.
The two new kittens, who are boys, weigh in at 1.7lb and 1.5lb. I estimate they are between 1-2 weeks older than Sandy's kittens. They are skinny babies who need fattening up.
They were scared of me, but they both did really well with me handling them to weigh them, deworm them, and check their genders.
Either tonight or tomorrow I'll give them a good bath to clean them up, clean their ears. They are a tad too small for flea meds but I'll give them capstar to kill any remaining critters.

I'm so thankful to God these babies are safely here and will be getting the TLC and love they need. 💗

Got my first pets in with the little brown tabby. She's cautiously curious of me and it's adorable.
After eating I played around with the pine on the ground, knocking it around. She watched me for a bit before she started playing with a piece of pine as well. ❤️

Thankfully this trapping didn't take too long. After I got off work at 8pm we went straight there to set up. To my great relief both kittens were behind the fence. The little brown tabby watched me set everything up and as soon as I walked over to the car he went straight to the food in front of the trap. Soon the gray tabby appeared. However, only the brown one went into the trap. I waited a little while but the gray one couldn't figure out how to go inside so she went a few feet away and started grooming herself.

I triggered the drop trap and caught the brown one and put her in the transport cage and put her in the car. I quickly set the drop trap back up and put more food out then went back to the car and sat at the curb, waiting. Thankfully it didn't take long for the gray kit to show back up and venture into the trap (after spending a minute trying to figure out how to get inside). At this time I saw a cat show up. Could possibly be the mom. We are planning to TNR her this coming week, hopefully. A few minutes later I triggered the trap and caught the second kitten.

Did we need another two kittens at Holiday Gandy when we are already beyond capacity? No, but the moment I saw them yesterday evening my heart fell in love with them and I couldn't stand by to see them live any longer on those scary streets. They deserve commitment, safety and a future full of unconditional love.

As long as I can help it, I'll give them exactly that!

Just saw two tiny kittens behind Walgreens and my heart hurts not being able to catch them. They are barely bigger than my littles. 🥹
This one has a little eye discharge.

As you all know, it's a heart shattering reality.

Rescue is hard.

It’s full of heartache, second-guessing yourself, wondering what more you could have done, and carrying the weight of losses that never should have happened in the first place.

I wish every day brought a happy ending. I wish every post was an adoption, a recovery, or a celebration. But the reality is that until more people step up, until more people become responsible pet owners and advocates for animal welfare in their own corner of the world, we will continue to lose lives unnecessarily.

Meet Little Prince.

He was one of hundreds of calls we receive asking for help. Orphaned. Injured. Alone.

Despite our best efforts, Little Prince did not make it.

💔 Rest in peace, sweet angel. 🌈🪽

Every kitten like Little Prince is a reminder that rescue organizations cannot solve this crisis alone. The solution starts long before an animal ends up in our arms. It starts with spaying and neutering pets, preventing unwanted litters, and taking responsibility for the animals that depend on us.

Please spay and neuter your pets.

Please help your neighbors and community members do the same.

Here in Marion County, there are resources available. TNVR. Low-cost programs exist. Help is out there. What we need most is for people to care enough to be part of the solution.

Don’t wait for someone else to step up.

You are someone.

Rest easy, Little Prince. You mattered. 🐾
