Austin Bulldog Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving and knowledgeable families for rescued English Bulldogs. We rescue bulldogs from animal shelters, other rescue groups and from owners who can no longer properly care

for their English Bulldog. Upon intake, we place each bulldog into a foster home that has been pre-approved and fully prepared to care for the specific needs of each bulldog. We provide and fund ALL health care needs for each bulldog while in our foster’s care…including medications, surgeries, vaccinations, preventatives, supplements and of course, spay and neuter. When healthy, happy and ready, each bulldog is matched with a pre-approved family and if all parties agree it is truly a perfect match, the bulldog is adopted into their furever home.

🚨💔 URGENT LIFE-OR-DEATH PLEA 💔🚨
⏰ NINA DIES ON DECEMBER 29TH WITHOUT A FOSTER ⏰

Nina is suffering from a recurring a**l prolapse that the shelter cannot medically treat. It has been temporarily replaced multiple times, but it continues to recur and is now at risk of becoming necrotic and life-threatening. The advising veterinarian has recommended a purse-string procedure and medical management, but the shelter does not have the ability to perform this.

👉 She has a hard deadline of December 29th.
👉 Without a foster or rescue commitment, she will be euthanized.
👉 She is in pain right now and cannot wait.

Because of how uncomfortable and painful this is for her, she has not been able to be safely dog-tested yet. This is simply due to her medical condition and level of pain — not behavior concerns. Once she is treated and more comfortable, we will be able to better evaluate her.

Despite everything, Nina is gentle, sweet, and trying so hard. She just needs someone to give her a safe place to land so she can receive real treatment and relief.

We urgently need:

• A foster willing to help a medical dog
• Someone comfortable keeping her separate from other pets initially while she heals

🎉❤️ WELCOME TO ABR, TAMALE ❤️🎉

Straight from the shelter and already settling in like he has always belonged… please help us welcome Tamale to the ABR family.

From the moment he landed in his foster home, he has been nothing but sweet, wiggly, and so happy to be near his people. He has already made himself right at home and loves following his foster family around the house like a little shadow. He even treats us to the cutest sploots when he relaxes.

Tamale is a social butterfly. He hit it off instantly with his foster dog friend and truly seems like the kind of dog who thinks everyone is his friend. At the dog park he was so curious and excited to meet the dogs inside the fence, and he has done well seeing cats too, not showing much interest in bothering them. He is just a happy little guy who wants to say hello to the world.

He is also a silly short stack who has no problem hopping up small steps and popping up to say hi. We are working on his manners and boundaries because he thinks the best way to greet you is by climbing into your lap… or onto your whole body. Because of that enthusiasm, older kids around eight and up will likely be the best match while he continues learning that not every greeting requires full body enthusiasm.

But the best thing about Tamale is his joy. He is just a genuinely happy soul. He loves people. He loves dogs. He loves being included. He loves life now that he finally feels safe.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED • NO OTHER DOGS 🚨
💔 THIS LITTLE MAMA NEEDS OUT 💔

This little girl has been through more than any dog ever should. She was found as a stray, completely alone, recently pregnant, starving and terrified. No collar. No chip. No one looking for her. Humans failed her long before we met her.

She ran up to someone walking larger dogs, probably thinking it was help. A fight broke out and in the chaos she was stomped on and hurt. Already scared and hungry, and then a human hurt her too. We are so tired of seeing dogs treated like this.

At the shelter we noticed the worst part. She was wearing a shock collar. Imagine wandering around trying to communicate or beg for help and getting shocked every time you made noise. She did not escape a home. She escaped a nightmare.

She also has a fresh C section scar which means there were puppies very recently. We do not know where they are. We do know she was used, discarded, and left behind the second she was no longer convenient.

She is traumatized and overwhelmed and not comfortable with other dogs right now, and honestly, who could blame her.

Right now she needs ONE thing:
👉 A FOSTER HOME WITH NO OTHER DOGS

We are begging. Please share. Please step up if you can. We do not want her to spend one more night scared and alone.

Skippy looks like a lapdog…and is most definitely a lapdog!

He’s got energy and love to give! His sweet and cuddly demeanor, requires lots of affection and love. He’s a Velcro dog ready to be your best friend!

It’s been 365 days since Edwin entered rescue—and today, he’s not defined by what he survived, but by how he lives.

Edwin wakes up ready to be a dog: playing, cuddling, learning, loving. Yes, his journey shows incredible strength—but he doesn’t need pity. He deserves to be admired, respected, and loved like any other dog… because that’s exactly who he is.

“All I Want for Christmas Is… a Forever Home (and More Bones)”

Woodson would like everyone to know he is thriving this holiday season—even if he looks like a slightly judgmental Christmas ham who just woke up from a nap he didn’t agree to.

Woodson was promised bones, not a photoshoot…but he was an excellent boy!

And yet—despite looking like a tiny French bulldog who’s being held hostage by holiday cheer—our guy is actually doing GREAT. His anxiety keeps improving, he’s settling in beautifully, and he’s discovered the joy of interactive treat toys (big brain, big wins).

Still the same sweet, brave, gold-hearted Frenchie who loves everyone and everything, even when dressed like a festive sausage and asked to pose under a Christmas tree. He’s playful, active, and would thrive with doting parents, older kids, and ideally a dog sibling to whisper bad ideas to.

Woodson’s holiday wish:
A forever home where he can relax, chew bones in peace, and judge you quietly from the couch.

’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the rescue,
The bulldogs were blinking… their wrinkles need rescue. 👀🐾

Their crates were all ready, but something’s amiss
No soft, cozy pads for a Christmas Eve snooze like this.

We’re wishing for care that keeps faces clean,
For wipes big and gentle, the MVPs of the routine.
For eye care that soothes every squint and stare,
Because bulldog love comes with extra care.

This Wishlist Wednesday lands on Christmas Eve,
And comfort is the gift we hope to receive.
We need Eye Care, Large Wipes and Large Crate Pads too.
The simple things to help our bulldogs make it through.

No glitter. No bows. Just practical care,
The kind that makes tomorrow brighter
