Pickles is a 4-year-old, very affectionate boy who’s ready to find his forever family. He’s social, curious, and would love nothing more than heading out on an adventure with you—then spending the afternoon winding down, snuggled up on the couch.

Pickles could do well in a home with other dogs, dog-savvy cats, and rough-and-tumble kids. At 87 pounds, he’s a big guy with an even bigger heart… and he truly has no idea how big he is!

Pickles is deaf and is looking for a patient, loving family willing to help him continue learning and thriving. He absolutely loves meeting new people, so come say hi! If you’re interested in bringing Pickles home, please plan to bring any current dog residents along for a meet-and-greet.

We currently have lots of adorable pocket pets looking for loving homes, and today we’re featuring a very special duo — Salem & Church 🖤

Salem and Church are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Both are friendly, social, and full of personality! Salem is always the first to come say hello, happily asking for scratches between the ears or a yummy treat. Church is never far behind, quickly following her lead to get in on the attention too. Watching their bond is truly heart-warming!

We are closed today, December 25th, to allow our team time to celebrate the holiday. Don’t worry, we will still be here taking care of the animals and will be open for adoptions tomorrow!

Melody made sure that every animal in our building received a new toy and a treat for Christmas. Not a single furry friend was missed! Our kitties enjoyed catnip toys, little mice, and a few tasty treats. The dogs each received a toy perfectly suited just for them along with some yummy snacks. Even our pocket pets were included — they were treated to fresh apples and were squeaking with happiness! 🐹🍎

Melody has been doing this incredible act of kindness for over 20 years. She shared, “Sometimes you give to people and don’t always get it right, but these animals are always happy to get a special gift — and seeing the happiness it brings is the best present.”

Thank you, Melody, for spreading so much joy every single year and for making the holidays brighter for our animals. ❤️🐾

🎄 Home for the Holidays Feature: DIXON

Dixon, our longest in-care cat resident, who has been in our care since November of 2023 and has spent most of that time in a loving foster home and she’s more than ready for a forever home of her own. ❤️

Dixon is a 7 year old very sweet and gentle girl who absolutely adores head rubs, pets, and affection. She’s quite the talker and will happily chat with you throughout the day. Her favorite activity? Chasing her wand toy and soaking up all the TLC she can get.

She has done well with laid-back cats and does great with dogs, but would prefer a home without cats that may challenge her. Dixon is diabetic and requires insulin twice daily, along with a Hill’s z/d diet for her sensitive skin. Because of this, it’s important that her adopter has a good relationship with their veterinarian.

Since Dixon is in foster care, meet-and-greets are by appointment only — please contact KVHS to schedule a time to meet this special girl. With all adult animals being 50% off now through December 23rd - we hope this is Dixon's time!
