Photographer and volunteer Sammy Hartery recently stopped by KVHS for a photoshoot with some of our dogs, and the pictures turned out so cute!

The final numbers are in… and this one deserves a celebration. ❤️🐾

Our 2026 Heroes Brunch & Auction raised more than $86,000 for the animals of KVHS, making this our most successful auction yet!

That incredible total was made possible by every guest who joined us, every donor who contributed an auction item, every paddle raised, every bid placed, and an amazing group of sponsors who helped make the day possible.

Just a reminder that our FIRST-EVER Trunk-or-Treat is coming up on Halloween! 🧡

Join us right here at KVHS on Saturday, October 31st, from 5–7 PM for a night of costumes, candy, and Halloween fun! 🍬 Our staff and volunteers will be dressed up and ready to hand out treats!

Special guests Kathi from Wilderness Miracles Wildlife Rehab will be joining us with Ziggy the Opossum!

Leashed dogs are welcome to join in the fun, too! Cat litter donations are appreciated but absolutely not expected.

We can’t wait to celebrate Halloween with our community! Grab your costumes, bring the family, and come see us for a spooktacular evening! 🎃

We are still taking it all in. ❤️🐾

Yesterday, a room full of incredible people came together for the animals of KVHS, and we are simply overwhelmed by the generosity, energy and love that filled every corner of the Augusta Country Club.

There were paddles in the air, puppies in laps, Meow-mosas and Barkin' Bloodies around the tables, plenty of laughter, and so many moments that reminded us exactly why this event has become such a special KVHS tradition.

Most importantly, you showed up for the animals.

You showed up for the ones already in our care. For the ones we haven't met yet. For the families in our community who need a little help keeping the pets they love. And for the work that happens every single day, long after the last paddle is lowered and the room is packed away.

To our extraordinary guests, donors, sponsors, auction donors, volunteers, committee members and friends: thank you.

To Hillary Roberts and Dennis Price, who led us through the afternoon with heart, humor and a whole lot of fun: thank you.

To the Shuman family and the many people whose generosity and belief in KVHS continue to move this organization forward: we are deeply grateful.

And to Charlie's Subaru and Subaru Loves Pets, thank you for helping us celebrate the very best of what happens when community and compassion come together.

There are so many more thank-yous coming, because an afternoon like this simply does not happen without an incredible village.

For today, we just want you to know this:

We felt your love for KVHS yesterday.

We saw it around every table.
We heard it in every cheer.
And we watched it happen every time a paddle went into the air.

Thank you for believing in this work and helping bring hope, healing, and second chances to the animals who need us. ❤️🐾

Axel is a sweet boy full of energy who loves being outdoors and showing off his zoomies. He’s always ready for his next adventure!

At home, Axel would love to be the center of attention as your only pet. He’s also looking for a family with kids over the age of 16.

SURPRISE! We’re extending our fee-waived adoption special! 🎉

We have been SO amazed by the number of animals who have found their forever homes during this special, and we want to keep the love going! ❤️ We’ve decided to extend the special to help even more of our furry friends find their happily ever afters. 🏡🐾

Through Sunday, October 25th, all animals aged 6 months and older are FEE-WAIVED! 🎉

Everything else stays the same, so if you’ve been thinking about adding a new best friend to your family, now is a great time to meet your match!
