At 8 years old, Diablo proves that age is just a number! This handsome pittie mix is packed full of energy, love, and plenty of personality. ❤️

One of Diablo’s favorite things in the world is chasing a tennis ball, and when he's finished playing, he'll happily back himself right up against you for some of his beloved butt scratches. He enjoys walks, runs, and staying active, making him a great companion for someone looking for an adventure buddy.

Diablo already knows "sit," is polite when it’s time to put on his leash, and has never met a treat he didn’t like! At around 48 pounds, he's the perfect size for joining you on all of life's adventures.

Diablo is looking for a home without cats, but he may do well with older, rough-and-tumble kids who are familiar with active dogs. We haven’t done an official introduction to dogs with Diablo, but he seems to not like them from a distance. Because of limited kennel space, Diablo is currently staying in our unavailable dog area, so be sure to ask to meet him!

What an incredible day! 💛🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Reunion yesterday! It was so special to see so many familiar faces, reconnect with alumni pets and their families, and celebrate the amazing community that makes our work possible.

From the wagging tails and happy reunions to the laughter, stories, and memories made throughout the day, we couldn't have asked for a better celebration of the animals whose lives have been changed through adoption. ❤️

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible vendors who joined us. Not only did they donate their time and talents to make the event special, but they also generously donated the proceeds from their sales back to the animals at KVHS.

🎉🐾 The countdown is almost over! 🐾🎉

The supplies are packed, the decorations are ready, and our team is busy making sure everything is set for tomorrow's Summer Reunion happening 2pm-5pm! 💛

There's something special about seeing it all come together. Every box packed and every item loaded in totes represents a community coming together to celebrate second chances, happy endings, and the animals who brought us all together.

Tomorrow we'll be welcoming alumni pets, their families, volunteers, fosters, supporters, vendors, and friends for an afternoon full of smiles, stories, and wagging tails—and we can't wait! 🐶❤️

Lemmy wanted to share how beautiful the flowers compliment her smile! 🌼

This adorable Akita is ready to find her forever family! Lemmy is a sweet girl who loves meeting new people, enjoys being brushed, and walks nicely on a leash. While she's still working on her basic training (and may be a little ditzy at times!), she makes up for it with her charming personality and endless cuteness.

We think Lemmy could do well with children and other dogs, and while she hasn't lived with cats before, proper introductions could help set everyone up for success.

One of the most rewarding parts of animal sheltering is seeing how far our residents come—not just during their time at KVHS, but long after they've found their forever homes.

🐾 A thank you to this amazing 5th grade class for creating advocacy posters for some of our shelter animals! The students learned about our pets and used their creativity to help spread the word about animals looking for homes.

We couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the animals with their very own posters! ❤️ Thank you for helping give our furry friends a little extra spotlight and a lot of extra love. 🐶🐱

🐾 A huge thank you to Eagle Scout Troop 603 for their incredible donation of supplies for our animals!

It’s always amazing to see our community come together to support the pets in our care. From food and litter to toys and cozy blankets, these donations will make a big difference for the animals who call KVHS home while they wait for their families.

Joey has been loving our outdoor scent enrichment space! 🐾🌿

Thanks to a dedicated volunteer, this area has become a wonderful addition to our dog enrichment program. Opportunities like this are so important during an animal’s stay with us, helping keep their minds engaged, their bodies active, and allowing them to explore the world through their incredible sense of smell. 👃
