Zoey has officially graduated! 🧡🎓

She first came to see Dr. Hagar Hauser in our Behavioral Medicine department for separation-related anxiety. With a personalized treatment plan and the dedication of her amazing mom, Zoey made incredible progress.

We’re so proud of this sweet girl and the teamwork that helped her thrive. 💛🐾

Did you know Maine C***s are one of the breeds most prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)? HCM causes the heart muscle to thicken, making it harder for the heart to pump normally.

Klein, a 4½-year-old Maine C**n, has been seeing Dr. Lou DelGuidice for system and heart disease—and he continues to charm everyone he meets.

Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital offers both Cardiology and Critical Care services to support pets with complex medical needs. 🧡

We’re so grateful for this thoughtful review from Alyssa, who trusted our Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital team late at night during a stressful situation with her shy pup, Saige.

From the warm welcome at the front desk to the gentle, patient care from our technicians, our team is dedicated to making every visit as comforting and compassionate as possible—no matter the hour.

Thank you, Alyssa, for sharing your experience and for letting us be there for Saige when she needed us most. 🧡

Moose came to MVA to see Dr. Hauser for help with resource guarding and fear-related aggression toward certain dogs. Behavior work takes time, patience, and commitment, and Moose’s mom showed all three.

Through dedicated follow-through at home and trust in the treatment plan, Moose has reached a huge milestone and is now a Behavior Graduate. We’re incredibly proud of this progress and the people behind it. 🧡

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a serious disease that develops when the common feline coronavirus mutates inside a cat’s body. It can affect many organs and may cause:
🐾 Fever that doesn’t go away
🐾 Loss of appetite or weight loss
🐾 Fluid buildup in the belly or chest

For a long time, FIP was thought to be untreatable, but that’s changing. ✨ New antiviral treatments are giving many cats a real chance at recovery and a happy life after diagnosis.

At MVA, our Internal Medicine teams collaborate with referring veterinarians to diagnose and manage FIP with compassion, expertise, and care.

If your cat has unexplained fever, weight loss, or fluid buildup, talk with your veterinarian about testing and next steps.

Early diagnosis and specialty care can make all the difference. 🧡

Cooper’s story is one of bravery, compassion, and community.

After a house fire in our community, Cooper was rescued and rushed for emergency care, arriving at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital thanks to the quick actions of local firefighters who transported him by fire truck to get him help as quickly as possible.

From the first moments through ongoing care, Hickory’s team stepped in when it mattered most. Their compassion, expertise, and willingness to help made a meaningful impact not only for Cooper, but also for the first responders who witnessed their care firsthand.

Our thoughts remain with Cooper’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We’re grateful to the firefighters, neighbors, and veterinary teams who came together to offer their support.

🧡 When communities come together, care truly matters.

Sage visited MVA for fear-based reactions to other dogs and fast-moving objects like bicycles. With support from Dr. Hauser, a thoughtful treatment plan, and collaboration with a local positive-reinforcement trainer, Sage’s dad committed fully to the process.

Thanks to consistent work and true teamwork, Sage has officially graduated from our Behavior service. Seeing this kind of progress is why we do what we do. 🧡
