🚨 “Did the groomer give my dog fleas?” 🚨

“Your groomer did NOT give your dog fleas… but they might be the first person to find them.” 🐾

Fleas are an environmental parasite, meaning they can be picked up anywhere dogs spend time—parks, daycare, boarding facilities, pet stores, veterinary offices, neighborhood walks, and even your own backyard. Wherever there are dogs, there is a possibility of fleas.

As pet parents, it’s our responsibility to keep our pets protected year-round with a veterinarian-approved flea preventative. Most grooming salons, including ours, offer flea treatments to help kill and remove fleas that are present during the grooming appointment, but these treatments are not a replacement for ongoing prevention at home.

For my own pack, I use Bravecto. They offer both 1-month and 3-month options, and I love the convenience of a simple chewable tablet. No messy oils, no strong smells, and no residue left on the coat after grooming.

⚠️ This is not a paid advertisement or sponsored post. I’m simply sharing what works for my dogs and encouraging pet parents to talk with their veterinarian about flea prevention before it’s too late. It’s flea season, and we’re already seeing an increase in flea-related appointments.

What works great for one pet may not be the best option for another, so always consult your veterinarian before starting any flea prevention program.

Remember: it’s much easier—and less expensive—to prevent fleas than it is to eliminate an infestation once it starts. 🐾

✨ MAKEOVER MAGIC ✨

This pup’s owner genuinely thought they were keeping up with brushing at home—but here’s what we found underneath…

❌ Brushing only the top layer of the coat.

Many pet parents use a slicker brush and stop once the top looks fluffy and tangle-free. The problem? Mats often hide deep near the skin where you can’t see them.

✅ The secret is called line brushing:
• Part the coat into sections
• Brush a small layer at a time from the skin outward
• Follow up with a metal comb
• If the comb can’t glide from skin to tip, the coat isn’t fully brushed

Think of it this way: if your comb can’t get through it, your dog’s skin can’t breathe through it either.
