Thank you to everyone who helped make our Cheryl Sheck Adoption Event such a success! ❤️

From the vendors who joined us, to the fosters who brought their foster dogs in hopes of finding them a home, and the volunteers who came out to honor Cheryl’s memory—your support made this day truly special.

These events are about more than adoptions. They give us the opportunity to connect with our community, celebrate lifesaving, and remember a volunteer who meant so much to all of us.

We’re thrilled to share that 25 animals found homes during the event!

Thank you to every adopter, volunteer, foster, vendor, and supporter who helped make this day possible. Cheryl’s legacy lives on through every life saved and every family created.

We have received an adoption update from Coopers new family!

“Zippy (now Cooper) has warmed up so much in the month that we've had him! He's a huge snuggler and such a gentle dog. Our other dog, Murphy, and him are best friends and love rough-housing with each other and "guarding" the home while we are away.

Cooper is very smart, and while we are still working on some bad habits (peeing inside and pulling things off of the counters), he's a wonderful boy. He really came out of his nervous shell after about a week in his new home. He's great with kids and other dogs!

So happy we adopted him!”

🚨 WE ARE OPEN UNTIL 8 PM TONIGHT 🚨

If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of our urgent dogs, please come to the shelter in person as soon as possible.

Our staff is working hard to assist the adopters and fosters who are onsite, so please do not wait for a callback or email response. With limited time and many animals needing help, visiting in person is the fastest way to meet a dog and potentially save a life.

18 dogs remain on our urgent list, and there is still time to help.

We’ll be open until 8 PM tonight, working to find as many homes as possible. But these dogs can’t wait for someone else to show up—we need 18 people to step forward now.

Whether you can foster or adopt, your decision could change a life today.

📍 1251 Fulton Industrial Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30336

Please share and help us reach the people these dogs are waiting for.

06/04/2026

23 dogs are still waiting to see what today will hold.

Will someone come in and choose to foster or adopt them? Will today be the day they finally walk out of the shelter and into a home?

Each of these dogs is hoping for one person to say “yes.”

🚨 Meet the 30 Dogs Urgently Needing Homes This Week 🚨

These 30 dogs have been given a deadline due to a lack of space in our shelter.

Intake numbers continue to remain high, and every day we face the difficult challenge of finding room for the animals coming into our care. The reality is that we cannot save lives without the support of our community. We urgently need adopters and fosters to help create space and give these deserving dogs the opportunity they deserve.

Behind every kennel door is a dog hoping for a second chance—a family to love them, a couch to nap on, and a place to finally call home.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting one of our urgent dogs, please visit us in person:

Please take a moment to look through these dogs and share their stories. One share, one foster, or one adoption can truly save a life.

❤️ A huge thank you to our community. ❤️

Yesterday, we started the day 82 dogs over our target population. Thanks to adopters, fosters, volunteers, supporters, and our incredible rescue partners, we were able to reduce that number to 31 dogs.

But the work isn't over yet.

While 31 is a much smaller number than 82, it is still 31 dogs who need to leave the shelter by 7 PM on 6/4. Take a look at our urgent list—you may just find your new best friend. Every dog on the list is an individual life waiting for a chance.

If a dog catches your eye, please don't hesitate to come meet them. And if you can't adopt or foster, sharing their stories can help them reach the people who can.
That is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to what can happen when a community comes together to help animals in need. Let's keep the momentum going and help even more dogs find the homes they deserve today.
