A nightmare scene: more than 40 dogs and puppies were found in northeast Georgia living in filthy, unsafe conditions, many sick and fighting for their lives.

Brynn finally got the second chance she deserved. ❤️

When Brynn arrived at Atlanta Humane, she was suffering from severe medical neglect. Our Shelter Medicine Team discovered one of her kidneys was no longer functioning, and she needed lifesaving surgery.

After recovering in a loving foster home, Brynn got the happy ending she deserved. Today, she's adopted, healthy, and surrounded by a family who loves her.

When our Shelter Medicine team discovered one of Brynn's kidneys was no longer functioning, we moved quickly to get her the lifesaving surgery she desperately needed.❤️‍🩹

Brynn was rescued from a heartbreaking neglect case involving more than 25 beagles. The neglect caused catastrophic damage for Brynn. One of her kidneys was filling with fluid and the tissue was dying.

Fergus was one dog among 17 cats rescued this weekend.💔 Years without proper care have left him with a large, painful mass on the side of his face that will require extensive surgery. Our shelter medicine team is doing everything they can do to keep him comfortable while they prepare his treatment plan.

Join us at our Marietta location on select Saturdays for special dog adoption events featuring adoptable puppies and adult dogs of all sizes from local rescue partners. This Saturday, we're partnering with Posey Shelter Pet Promoters, Inc. (and they're bringing the cuties in this post).

Over Memorial Day weekend, while many people were observing the holiday with family and friends, our Operation Humane team was working to bring 17 cats and 1 dog to safety from a heartbreaking situation.

Many of these animals spent years living in filth, never knowing the feeling of a clean bed or when their next meal would come. Today, they are safe in our care, but they still have a long road ahead of them.
