MRHS works with the City of Athens to provide loving care for homeless animals from McMinn County. The MRHS Spay & Neuter Clinic and Larry Dean Wallace Sr. Adoption Center are both located at 320 S. Jackson St., Athens, TN. We share a facility with the City of Athens Animal Shelter, and are invited to be there to help socialize, transport, foster, and adopt out animals. You’ll adopt from us at thi

s location unless told otherwise! You can reach our team at the Adoption Center at 423-744-9548. MRHS does not intake or reclaim any cats or dogs at the shelter. We rely heavily on volunteers working with a small staff to save lives. Appointments for spay/neuter can be made by contacting the Spay & Neuter Clinic at 423-649-0370. Fill out a volunteer or adoption application at www.mrhumane.org! We'd love to have you join our volunteer team! Donations can be mailed to us at 320 S. Jackson St., Athens, TN 37303. Monetary support from our animal loving friends in the community as well as donations of supplies are very much appreciated! Every donation directly helps over 2,000 animals a year that MRHS helps to care for!

Looking for a fun way to get involved and give back to your community!? How about something fun to do with your kiddos while teaching them about responsible pet ownership and play with furry fluffballs in the process?!

Well, you're in luck!! We are always looking to add more volunteers to our 'Shelter Squad'! Our doggos and kitty cats are always eager for volunteers' attention!

🐾Volunteer duties can include:
Walking and socializing dogs
Socializing puppies
Socializing cats and kittens
Assisting with food drives, adoption events, donation collection, etc.
Animal enrichment activities
Bathing puppies

Interested in joining our pack!? Volunteer applications can be submitted on our website. Applications will be processed, and applicants will be contacted to schedule orientation. Volunteers must be 12+ years of age. Ages 12-15 must be supervised by a parent/guardian. Have questions about younger kids coming to the shelter? Give our Adoption Center a call at 423-744-9548.

Come meet our adoptable dogs and cats during this month's 1st Friday Adoption Event! Walk-ins welcome!

💰Cash or check only accepted.
🐾Meet and greet with other dogs in the home required.
📲Applications submitted online prior are preferred. www.mrhumane.org

Please bring a cat carrier with you if you have one available.
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, age-appropriate testing and vaccines, and microchip (for dogs). Adoption fee for cats/kittens is $40; Puppies (less than 1 yr) is $100; Adult dogs is $80; Senior dogs (5yrs +) is $40.
