Today was a good day for counter cantering 🙌💪 I feel it helps my training horses work on balance, suppleness through their whole body and promotes engaging their hind end 😀
Its not easy, it's definitely less is more until each horse becomes more comfortable.
It helps Dave's rope horses especially on the left lead 👌

1. Should producers cancel this weekend?
- Answer: Yes, they should cancel.

2. How would you advise neighboring states to proceed with horse events?
- Answer: Less movement of horses will help resolve the outbreak faster.

3. Is BVH aware of cases outside of the Waco horses?
- Answer: Currently, only aware of cases in Waco, but expect potential spread.

4. Is this contagious to humans?
- Answer: No, it is not contagious to people.

5. Can someone who attended these races get a test at the clinic?
- Answer: Yes, they can screen horses and we will do trailer-side examinations.

6. How do you advise other disciplines to respond?
- Answer: Be discipline-specific, vaccinate, take temperatures, and practice good biosecurity.

7. Is there any risk that farriers could transmit this from barn to barn?
- Answer: Unlikely, as farriers are typically careful about infectious disease transmission.

8. How do people get vaccines without bringing their horse to the clinic?
- Answer: Vaccines require a veterinary exam, either at the clinic or on the farm, call and we can schedule this for you.

9. When do you suggest getting boosters?
- Answer: If the last vaccines were given more than 90 days ago, then as soon as possible to increase antibodies and slow virus spread.

10. What is your choice for disinfecting tech buckets, the barn, etc.?
- Answer: Avoid bleach, use accelerated hydrogen peroxide, phenols, or quaternary ammonia products. (rescue or companion)

11. How long will the virus last on surfaces if not disinfected?
- Answer: 2 days on dry surfaces, up to 2 weeks on wet surfaces.

12. Can horses have the virus without fever or nasal discharge?
- Answer: Yes, they can still be potentially contagious.

13. Can lysine or other products help prevent or build immunity?
- Answer: No, lysine and zinc have not been effective. Vaccines are the best prevention.

14. What is a normal horse temperature?
- Answer: 99 to 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on environmental conditions.

15. Is it okay to ride your horse at home if they were exposed but have no symptoms?
- Answer: Yes, but be smart about separating horses and avoid sharing tack.

16. If a horse had recent exposure in the last two days and is not vaccinated, should they be vaccinated now?
- Answer: Yes, vaccination can help reduce virus shedding and spread.

Big Sweet City Girl finishing up her time with me 💜 this big mare loves to turn and is very broke- she's made my job easy the past couple of months 🙌 City Girl locked on pretty quickly! I think she's middle teens, by Sixes Country and possibly out of a Special Show mare. City Girl was part of the Purina Horse Feed research program 👏 She belongs to a very special little girl ❤️

100% agree! If you haven't picked a stallion for 2026 look into Simply Famous! He is a WINNER and he sires WINNERS!

It all started as we were driving to one of our favorite events, The BLITZ in 2022.
Jenny: “Where do you think Nick will stand Baxter?”
Jason: “I don’t know.”
Jenny: “Well I’m going text him and offer to stand him at our place.”
And that was it. Baxter was our first outside stallion, and he has been back every year since. And in that time we have grown to stand a total of 9️⃣ stallions in 2026!

Baxter is very special to us as he is the sire of “Lulu” | Simply High the little red rocket Cydney Peterson has been winning on. We have one Baxter baby on the way being carried by our good daughter of Irish Pay. This cross was dynamite last year - just ask Nicole Yanish as she now owns that beautiful palomino filly!

But that’s not it…we have plans to breed 3 mares to him in 2026. Here’s a hint: if you like how Lulu is bred you’re going to want to get on the wait list for those TWO. Or, if you think a Baxter x Austi baby would fit your style, let us know.

Baxter has proven himself in the arena and continues to do so. But more importantly, he is proving himself as a sire, with numerous 1D horses already running with limited foal crops, including Skye Harris’ Mia Famous Flame 🔥 . When you hear this name called you come to the fence to watch the magic unfold. We believe you’re just starting to see what these horses can and will do, with their unique gritty turning style - they are hard to beat.

Thank you Nick & Jarred for trusting us with Baxter once again. We are so thankful for this opportunity, and can’t wait to see more Simply Famous offspring topping the leader board!

I love this analogy 💜💜

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

*Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.*

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"*

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.
