😎☀️ The brutal Virginia summer heat is finally upon us! ☀️😎
Please take the time to read and familiarize yourself about the dangers and signs of heat stroke in your dog:
https://bit.ly/45q8Ygk
Some Helpful Tips to Avoid Heat Stroke:
- Walk your dog early in the day, or later in the evening to avoid the harsh mid-day sun
- Do not leave your dog outside unsupervised for extended periods of time
- Do not muzzle your dog on walks. Panting is the only way dogs can reduce their internal body temperature.
- Keep a collapsible water bowl and cooling rag with you on walks and hikes this summer!
If you think your pet is experiencing heat stroke please do not hesitate to call us immediately at 703-729-0700 during our normal business hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 7:00 pm.
For after-hours care please refer to our website's list of near-by emergency hospitals.

There was a fun vet webinar that not only was educational but also creative. Dr. Germann tried her hand at a pet painting 🤗 🎨 Paint the Town #veterinarians #painting
Mary has been a part of AVAH since November and she’s fit right in with our fun crew! She is new to the business but now she can’t think of anything else to do but to stay with the vet industry. She enjoys meeting people from all different walks of life and learning about their pet stories. Mary loves cats and is not only good at ‘trashketball’ but is also good at juggling! #vetreceptionist #vetreceptionistweek
“Jenny” visited us yesterday to get her stitches removed after a lifesaving spay procedure. She looked like a completely different dog than she did a couple of weeks ago!! She almost died from a pyometra, which is a severely infected uterus that can cause sepsis and death. She sure strutted her new haircut and hairdo for us and we couldn’t have been happier to see her this healthy and happy again! ☺️ #shihtzusofinstagram #veterinarian #successstory #vetstory #doghaircut
We are thankful for getting a sugar boost from our wonderful clients 🤗 #thankful #bestclients #crumblcookies
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this upcoming transition period, as we say goodbye to Dr. Credit.
Frankie is a regular visitor to get his therapeutic laser sessions which helps with his chronic arthritic pain. By now, he knows exactly where to go to find the “peanut butter wall”! 😋
