Meet Shannon! Shannon is a Wheaton Terrier who’s 5 years old and weighs about 35 lbs. Shannon is a very sweet dog who’s leash trained, knows commands and is super smart! Shannon would make an excellent addition to any home where she is the only pet.

Meet Radar! Radar is a Boston/boxer mix who is about 8 months old and weighs about 35 lbs. Radar is a spunky young man with lots of energy to work off so he needs someone to help him with that. He loves everyone he meets as well as other dogs and even cats! We think he would do well in a home with energetic people and any other pets.

Meet Tux! Tux is a 5 year old terrier mix who weighs about 25 lbs. This wonderful dog loves all people and other dogs (no cats!). He’s super fun to play with and loves to go for walks and snuggle on the couch! Tux would make an excellent addition to any home!

Who’s looking for a cute little fella to adopt? We’ll look no further than Skip! Skip is a four year old Jack Russell mix who weighs about 20 lbs. This little guy is super sweet and loves to get all the attention and affection you’re willing to give him. Poor Skip was picked up as a stray and as a result he has heartworm and a few other issues for which we are treating him. Because of this, he will need a home where he can be kept calm during treatment. If you would like to meet this adorable little dude, please give us a call to make an appointment!

The volunteers at the Buddy Foundation love all of the dogs and cats that walk through our doors. Sometimes though, there’s a special dog that comes along that everyone immediately falls in love with. Diamond is that dog. She came to us in August 2024 when we pulled her from a downstate shelter that euthanizes for space. After her arrival, we discovered she was pregnant . She gave birth to 10 puppies on a Saturday in September. She was such a good mom and all of the puppies survived under her care. All of her puppies have since been adopted and today was Adoption Day for Diamond !! All of her special friends came in this morning to send her off with new toys and treats . She will have a great life with her new mom and she will be her mom’s protector and best friend . ( Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! ) Have the best life sweet girl. You deserve it!!!❤️ 🐶

Sheeb thought we meant hunting bunnies not dressing up like one! She still had fun and wanted to show everyone how cute she looks in her ears. Sheeb is a fun, energetic young lady who loves all people and playing with other dogs! She’s also very smart and knows commands like sit, stay, paw and down! We think she’d make an excellent addition to any home - especially one which another dog so she could have a playmate! Norton wants you to know that he is ready to celebrate Easter with you - as well as all of the other important holidays: Like National Dress Up Your Pet Day; International Rescue Cat Day; National Cat Lady Day; National Hug Your Cat Day; National Cheese Lovers Day; and whatever other special days you want to celebrate! And he is not above dressing for the occasion, either.

Enzo was a good sport about donning the bunny ears and he’s hoping they help catch someone’s eye so he might get adopted soon! Enzo has so much love to give and is lots of fun! This sweet little boy keeps getting overlooked and we don’t get it. He’s gentle, confident and loves to do whatever you’re doing! We think he’d make an amazing addition to any home! Enzo is about 6-7 months old and a lab mix.

Buddy will be closed on Easter Sunday, so there will be no adoptions that day.

On this woof Wednesday, sweet Jasper is hoping someone hops on by sometime soon to meet him! Jasper is not only handsome, but he’s also so much fun now that he’s come out of his shell! Gone are the days of tail tucking and head ducking, now he’s tail wagging and happy barking - especially when he sees another dog. Jasper is also very gentle so we think he would make an excellent family dog! If you’d like to make an appointment so you can hop on by to meet him, please give us a call!

Jasper is a 6 month old Pyrenees mix.

This year marks an incredible milestone — The Buddy Foundation is celebrating 30 years of rescuing, sheltering, and loving animals in need!

From humble beginnings in 1995 to becoming a trusted no-kill shelter in Arlington Heights, we’ve been fueled by the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our community, and the endless love of our furry friends.

We’re honored to share that the Governor of Illinois has officially recognized The Buddy Foundation for our three decades of life-saving work and our commitment to giving every animal a second chance.

Here’s to 30 years of hope, healing, and happy tails — and to many more ahead!

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey. Let’s keep making a difference, one paw at a time.

This “Bunny Ears” edition of Tongue Out Tuesday is brought to you by Reese! This handsome young dude is looking for his furever home and he hopes the Easter Bunny will hop on by with his adopters soon! Reese loves to play with toys, other dogs and go for walks outside. He’s also partial to snuggles when he’s all tired out and will give you lots of hugs and kisses! Reese is super smart and knows commands like sit and down. He’s still a pup though so he will require some training. We think Reese would be an excellent addition to any home! If you’d like to make an appointment to meet Reese, please give us a call!

Kobe agreed to don the bunny ears if we agreed he could hunt for Easter eggs! This sweet, handsome dude is so eager to please whoever he’s with and is always looking for approval. Kobe is not only smart but he’s also fiercely loyal. Kobe does have issues with food so he needs to be the only dog in a home with an experienced owner. If you’d like to meet Kobe, please give us a call.

Just like a fine wine, some kitties get better with age. Bootsy and Dixie are a bonded couple, who love nothing more than a good snug and scratch on the head. Their love languages are quite different though: Bootsy is more of a physical touch man while Dixie is a words of affirmation kind of gal. Either way, this pair is sweeter than a chilled glass of Riesling.
