I guess it’s about time I posted about our last show… last weekend… but it wouldn’t be like me to post without time for a suspenseful buildup while everyone waits to see how it went..
Well it’s not very suspenseful, because we all know that wherever we go, we have fun, and enjoy showing our horses with our barn family!
As many people do know, I am not a fair horse show person… Lots of people, commotion, noises, and as we love to show off our horses and what we do; Sometimes the people coming through the Barns are not respectful of your things and animals- So with a camera installed and very late nights watching over the stalls/horses( and yes the camera when I decided to go to the camper) we made it through my first fair in MANY years! Though I am exhausted (still), it ended up being a lot of fun! Some highlights;
🍬 Too Chocolatey For U & Elouise Scanlon🍬
Another show, another show of growing leaps and bounds!! These two took home many top placings, they brought home the blue in English Leadline Showmanship & Leadline English Equitation. Then rounding out rest of English day with 2nds leading then to High Point Leadline English! The western day they stayed top 3 all day and just missed the reserve for high point leadline. Elouise also decided to go back in by herself again in the youth w/t showmanship, she landed 4th out of 12+ exhibitors! This team is showing up and SHOWING! We love watching them!
🧬Code Me Cute & Layne Brown Swisher🧬
This duo was finally back in action since their long break after the world show… and they came back out swinging! This duo won ALL 3 of their western pleasure classes, as well as winning his novice horsemanship! They also stayed top 5 & 6 in the memorial walk jogs out of 21/22 riders! A tired pony in the showmanship and a terribly mucky trail arena (we put the horse first and scratched it) not gaining points from those classes he still managed to get Reserve High Point Novice Western & Reserve High Point Youth Western! Love how well these two showed, they are becoming such a team!
👻 Hunting For A Party & Sawyer Murray- Merring👻
Finally got to watch these two do their thing again, and boy did we love it! After some family came in earlier than expected, Sawyer and “Boo” had to miss the English day, BUT came out big for western day. They took 2nds in all of his halter classes, some with over 19 horses! They managed to go all the way to the top of the halter mares and secure Reserve Halter Mare for the day! His winning didn’t stop there as he also won his Leadline Western Pleasure Class! No doubt the bond these two have will put a smile on everyone’s face and we love being apart of it!

2nd show for these two, and with a whole new experience for the both of them! Though it may have been new, these two proved how much they have been working together! They placed 2nd in the youth walk/jog pleasure, then stayed top 5 & 6 in the open walk jogs classes with 21/22 in them! Lots of traffic to navigate with long classes, but they made it look easy! As much as we were anticipating their trail debut this past weekend, the arena was just too sloppy to put them through it… But it just means they will be even more ready next show! More great things to come from these two!
🥁Moxie Marvel & Sara McMicken🥁
This duo didn’t quite have the show they were hoping for after a successful pinto world show, but the mucky footing had Marvin not quite himself.. For the sake of the horse, we decided to do a couple walk trot classes to get him in the muck to push through it a little without making it unsafe for the both of them. Even with that they still walked away with a 2nd in a big class of open walk trotters! They then also placed 2nds and 3rds in all their showmanship’s! Onto better things next show- but for now, the maturity of how Sara handled the situation cannot go without commending- She even comforted him and loved on him, even though he didn’t allow her to show as much as she had hoped for! Nothing better than watching these kids turn into true horsemans and putting their horses first!
Along with the success in the arena, our barn family laughed, till we cried, mostly at the kids while we watched them ride the rides, laughed while we were sopping wet from unexpected downpour; but also laughing and smiling because no matter how the outcome turns out in the arena, we are always grateful for the support system we have created. We are so happy to enjoy our horses with some of our best friends- that’s what horse showing it about!
Thank you to everyone who kept things rolling at home. Thank you to Ruby sticking with us all week as extra hands at the show, as well as Nicola who came to support and help on Saturday! Another show done and onto another very soon!
