St. Margaret's Pony Club

Welcome to the St. Margaret's Pony Club page! We're based in the Anne Arundel County, MD. We think riding is Fun! St. Team members help each other.

Pony Club is a great place to not only learn riding skills, and care of horses and ponies, but to have fun learning and participation in many riding sports. Our riding sports include Dressage, Eventing, Mounted Games, Polocrosse, Show Jumping, and Tetrathlon. Margaret's members also enjoy a Regional Summer Camp, an annual Horse Swim, Fox Hunting, and our traditional round robin event. Our first co

mpetition of the year is the popular unmounted knowledge competition called Quiz. Pony Club members participate in these sports in team competitions called rallies, which help them learn the importance of cooperation and friendship. At rallies, there is no help from parents. There are rallies and Championships every two years. Plus every two years, Festival is held; an event that combines Championships and an educational program held at the Kentucky Horse Park. Pony Club members progress through a standard evaluation system called Certifications. Each level requires them to learn more about horses and their care and to become increasingly accomplished riders. Pony Club believes that safety and the care of the horse - Horse Management - should be primary goals for all riders.

🐴 Pony Club Adventure: Swimming in the Patuxent River! 🌊☀️

Last weekend, SMPC had an unforgettable outing—we took the horses swimming in the Patuxent River! 🐎💦 It was a perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Some splashed, some rolled, and some swam out beyond where their feet touched the sand.

Days like this are what Pony Club is all about—trying new things, making great memories, and building stronger partnerships with our horses. 🥰🐴

SMPC field trip!
Yesterday we traveled to Foxhall Equine to tour their veterinary medicine and rehabilitation facility. We learned about the variety of ways they help horses recover from illnesses and injuries and keep our equine friends feeling their best. On the way home we stopped at Maryland Saddlery, Butler and were greeted with free ice pops! Thank you to Foxhall and MD Saddlery for your hospitality!

This past Thursday at Dovecote Equestrian, Janice hosted a clinic on Lugnging to help prepare members for the C1 HM test. Both St. Margaret's Pony Club and Annapolis Pony Club members were present for a demonstration and walk through different types of lunging equipment and how to use it properly. Thank you Janice for a great and informative clinic.

Had our mounted lesson with our fav coach Janice Binkley. Grid work was on tap for tonight and boy did these ladies and their geldings get a good workout.

Maryland Region Pony Club Show Jump Rally at Morven Park International Equestrian Center was this weekend. Our team came excited for a great weekend of jumping. Even with the storms blowing through and a rain delay due to thunder & lightning we came out with some clear rounds and lessons learned.

Our Senior team scored 2nd in HM and 1st place over all. And Chloe received 5th place, Donald and Boo tied for 3rd in the equation round.

Now on to Tetrahlon in 2 weeks.
