Anyone down for a pack walk? šŸ¤­
BUDDIES! After a move with a toddler, the holidays and the sicknessā€™s that come with themā€¦ I am ready to get out the door.

When ? January 18th @ 10:00am (parking lot A)
How ? If you have completed at least 4 group classes you are in invited!

If youā€™re not having fun training your dog, you need to make your lessons easier.

We teach our dogs commands to teach them routines. Most commonly, we teach them here, sit, stay and place. Yet when the doorbell rings we say ā€œchill out, move, itā€™s just grandma.ā€ You are essentially speaking a foreign language during a stressful time.

Doorbell rings- here, place, stay. Wait to be released. (Make sure you have a clear release word) if they donā€™t listen that means you need to spend more time putting them on the leash and walking them through the routine until they can do it on their own.

Remember- Dogs under 2 have a hard time working around new things/people for more than 20-30min so instead of getting frustrated, give eachother breaks by either tethering in eye sight or crating in another room for awhile a couple hours then coming out to work again.

Anything new you work on or around deserves high value rewards. If your dog is blowing off an easy command in a very familiar setting, you need to put them on a leash. Not give them treats.

Use commands, create a routine, walk them through it, reward them. Repeat and trust the process, buddies.

Youā€™re really never done training your dog. Continue to build duration of your commands, find new things to ā€œplaceā€ on, take new classes and enjoy the ride! In 3-5 years thereā€™s no telling what your dog could be capable of - just keep training!

I promise you, those people that you see out walking their dogs every day are having their own problems tooļæ¼.

Youā€™d be surprised how many times I go out to consultations and the case is ā€œwalks wonderfully on a leash but pees all over the house.ā€

Say it and make it happen or donā€™t say the command at all. Take the emotion out of it, go get the leash and take a deep breath on the way.

Some dogs do not deserve to be off leash in the house and thatā€™s ok! They will quickly start working hard to earn their freedoms back.

When you look around out in public you donā€™t see a ton of (real)service dogs. The same reason you donā€™t see a ton of birkin bags, they are expensive and extreme detail goes into creating as well as maintaining them. 3-5 years of training. 30-50k.

Please donā€™t reach out to me expecting to give you a service dog in 3-5 lessons. Itā€™s almost insulting.

Please donā€™t bring your dog out after we have had one lesson, call them a service dog and tell people Iā€™m your trainer.

I DO NOT offer service dog training. I offer obedience/confidence and thatā€™s it.

Love you guys ā¤ļø but stop it.
