We said goodbye to our beloved Oreo tonight after a severe case of colic.
He was living out his best retired life with his favorite miniature horse, Lady, and his goat pals who would occasionally hop on his back to inform us he was still very much broke despite retirement.
Oreo was the foundation of Journey’s End from the moment he joined the program 19 years ago. He taught more riders than I can count from a first ride to the show ring. You could learn confidence and love for the sport with him as well as how to ride the dirtiest stop you’d ever seen!
He was consistent, kind, and unflappable; an asset in every sense of the word. More often than I’d like to admit I’d wonder if he was smarter than me.
We are so incredibly proud to have had Oreo as a partner and a friend for almost two decades and can’t imagine waking up tomorrow without him.
Thank you to our barn family who instantly flocked from all different directions to say their goodbyes and send him over the rainbow bridge will all of the love and kindness he has offered us over these years.
We are so grateful, and we are so lucky.
We would like to invite anyone who knew Oreo to please share a memory or a photo of our precious Pony Man. To celebrate his life instead of suffering in his loss, we’re better people for knowing him.
