Mahoning Valley Animal Hospital We are an animal hospital located in Andreas, Pa. We have been in business for over 25 years. We specialize in routine annual exams and vaccines.

We also specialize in spay/neuter, microchipping, canine/feline dental cleanings/extractions, planned C-sections, and cruciate ligament repairs. On site we have a stocked pharmacy and carry preventative medications such as flea, tick, and heartworm products, as well as antibiotics, thyroid medications, etc. Our hospital also stocks Purina, Hill's, and Royal Canin prescription diets as well as Anna

maet Pet Foods. We also have a full compliment of staff that can help answer all of your questions. In the event of an emergency outside of our normal business hours, please seek care at one of the following ER's. Summer Travel Update for Pet Owners

Summer is officially here—even if the weather hasn’t quite caught up yet! As people shift into vacation mode, it’s worth noting that some lucky pets get to tag along on the family adventure, while others enjoy their own little getaway.

If you’re planning to travel with your pet—especially across the border—there are a few important updates and reminders to keep in mind.

Traveling to Canada

Good news: Canada's requirements for bringing pets into the country haven’t changed. To cross the border with your pet, you’ll need:

* A valid rabies certificate

* A pet that appears healthy and meets humane transportation standards

Pet Food Restrictions:

You can bring a personal supply of pet food into Canada (up to 20 kg or 44 lbs per animal), but it must meet all of the following criteria:

* The food must be of U.S. origin and commercially packaged

* It must be in your possession at the time of entry

* The pet must accompany you when crossing the border

* The food must be fed only to the pet that traveled with you

Returning to the U.S.

Recent changes have gone into effect for dogs re-entering the United States. Now required:

* A completed CDC Dog Import Form: CDC Form Link

* Dogs must be at least 6 months old at the time of entry

* Dogs must be microchipped, and the chip must be readable with a universal scanner

* Dogs must appear healthy on arrival

* While it is not listed as a requirement, it may be a good idea to have that Rabies certificate handy just in case

Before you travel, especially internationally, be sure to review all pet travel requirements specific to your destination. Some countries require special documentation, which can take time to obtain, and many also mandate a veterinary exam within a certain timeframe before entry. If you're flying, don’t forget to check with your airline for their specific pet travel policies. Most airlines require proof of a current rabies vaccination. Some airlines require an exam within so many days of flying and the completion of a health certificate.

Important Note: Our office cannot provide rabies vaccine exemption letters unless your pet meets strict medical criteria. Being a “senior” pet does not qualify as a legal exemption. All healthy animals are expected to be vaccinated.

We are a small animal hospital located in Andreas, Pa. We have been in business for over 25 years. Dr. Mike specializes in routine annual exams and vaccines. Our office also offers a variety of surgical services and diagnostic testing. We offer: spay/neuter, microchipping, canine/feline dental cleanings/extractions, planned C-sections, digital radiographs, atopic dermatitis management, digital dental radiographs, therapeutic laser treatments, ultrasound, diabetic management, vulvaplasty, and cruciate ligament repairs. On site we have a stocked pharmacy and carry preventative medications such as flea, tick, and heartworm products, as well as antibiotics, diabetic testing supplies and insulin, thyroid medications, etc. Our hospital also stocks Purina, Hill's, and Royal Canin prescription diets as well as Annamaet Pet Foods. Our office also has an online pharmacy in which you can order your pet’s medications and have them shipped directly to your home! Our pharmacy is the EXACT same pharmacy in which we purchase our stock from, so there is no need to worry about receiving fraudulent medications that may make your pet sick. We also have a full compliment of staff that can help answer all of your questions.
