Many of you guys will recognize little sweet Carrie!

She’s a kitten who is being intentionally and slowly trained to tolerate nail caps — with consent, pacing, and behavior always coming first.

Nail caps are one of those tools that can be incredibly frustrating for owners and pet professionals… and they’re also one of the most controversial globally due to so much lack of quality information.

When done poorly, they can absolutely cause problems.
When done thoughtfully, for the right cat, (in the right situation), they can be a real safety and welfare support.

We’re filming Carrie’s journey so we can teach the why, when, and how — not just the application.

This visit she's rocking the green sparkly holiday cheer!

A real ask from us 💙

As we continue restructuring into a research- and community-centered nonprofit, we’re realizing that this work can’t — and shouldn’t — live on just a couple of shoulders.

If you’ve ever wanted to support this kind of work from behind the scenes, this is one of those moments.

We’re especially looking for folks who enjoy things like writing, social media support, website help (WordPress experience needed), research assistance, lost pet support, or fostering — even in small, flexible ways.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a conversation to see if there’s a good fit.

If this sounds like you, email us at [email protected]

I just realized I’ve been pretty quiet here and wanted to do a quick check-in! We’re deep in the behind-the-scenes work of legally restructuring into a nonprofit — lots of moving pieces. Thank you for your patience with us.

That said… I just got a calendar notification that it’s National Ugly Sweater Day. Out of pure ridiculousness and joy, please vote for the best ‘ugly sweater’ to see which team member wins!

Winning sweater gets bragging rights until the end of the year.

Ions ready to go on a trip to his new home!?! Where could that be?

This foster boy is ready to get his new digs.

He is neutered, up to date on shots, and deaf. But that doesn't stop him... ok well climbing heights kind of spooks him. (We suspect the vibrations of the floor being gone from under him discourages this naturally).

He has been a stinker pants for grooming due to touch aversion, but a lion cut gets him through 90% of his grooming needs.

He would need to be a solo cat in a multi species home, or paired with a cat that's patient and tolerant of shenanigans. Since he is deaf he is missing some critical social skills in terms of knowing when to stop initiating play. He has great peaceful moments in his foster home with kids, dogs and the other cat. And other times when he is under stimulated and really playful that he needs plenty of redirection to encourage him to not over pester the senior resident cats.

Loves to flop on the floor, active bird watching cat, loves adventures or of the house to observe in a safe stroller or beach pack. And is ok with plane rides. 🤣 So... potentially your new travel buddy?

🐾 Community Share: Safe Placement Needed for a Young Mama Cat 🐾

A local family is hoping to find a safe barn or shop home for a young black mama cat and her single kitten.

The mama is estimated to be around 1.5–2 years old, and her kitten is about 5 weeks. The family has cared for them in their garage since late September after finally managing to safely trap the pair. Mama is very shy but not aggressive—she hisses and keeps her distance, though she’s shown curiosity and will cautiously approach for a quick sniff if people sit quietly.

She’s protective of her food but otherwise avoids conflict, and she’s using the litter box consistently, which is a great sign. The kitten appears healthy, friendly, and will be adoptable through rescue once weaned, but the mama needs a safe, low-stress environment to call home. (weaning process can take place in potential adopters home).

They live on an acreage where coyotes make it unsafe for her to stay outdoors long-term, so the goal is to find a secure barn, shop, or stable placement—somewhere she’ll have shelter, regular food, and kind caretakers.

If you can offer this sweet but timid mama a place to land, or know someone who can, please reach out so we can connect you with the family.

🖤 Every share helps. Let’s help this little family find safety before winter sets in.
