Services include routine hoof trimming and shoeing as well as therapeutic shoeing for a variety of conditions such as laminitis, navicular disease, hoof cracks, and other hoof pathologies. A new trailer has been outfitted and customized with the necessary supplies and tools to operate on-site at local farms. IMPROVING EFFICIENCY. Two new WATO 65 workstations have been incorporated in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center’s Anesthesia Service thanks to donors to the Companion Animal Fund. A training session was recently held where technicians learned how the workstations will facilitate superior ventilation modes, monitor for ventilation/ventilatory status, and provide a more efficient anesthesia setup, patient connection and monitoring.

Improvements in efficiency when a patient is under general anesthesia reduce morbidity and mortality and improve throughput. Integrated safety features promote safe use with patients and minimize staff and student exposure to inhaled anesthetic (waste) gases. Ultimately, these workstations will allow the Anesthesia Service to provide superior care for critical patients and superior training for the LVMC residency program, students and technical staff in a safer operating environment. The workstations are supported by LVMC clinicians Dr. Brandon Wahler and Dr. Masako Fujiyama.

Please consider supporting the Companion Animal Fund and other Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center giving funds to help provide additional service to all patients.

TWO-TIME SURVIVOR. After 15 weekly treatments, Jet has graduated from chemotherapy at the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital. On his initial presentation to ISU Oncology last February Jet was lethargic, anorexic and had several enlarged lymph nodes. After intensive multi-agent CHOP chemotherapy, today Jet’s blood calcium, clotting cells, white blood cells, and lymph node cells all have normalized, and he is in complete remission. Three years ago, Jet had a Nodal Follicular B-cell Lymphoma in a single lymph node that was removed, from which he remains in remission for. If you and your animal need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center.
